AND, make sure the roads are kept rough while at the same time providing tax concessions for purchase of suspension upgrades....

I am kidding about some of the above.....
    Hey you guys!
You are ruining a perfectly good thread!
Robert, you are a naughty boy and shouldn't be allowed to play with the others in the sand pit because you are too obliging! Although it is bloody funny to read! Anyway, from a guy with a chequebook FULL of someone elses money, thanks for all the help! Now I have to go spend heaps more on my filthy rich, silver spooned racer that has had everything given to him on a platter and who has 0 talent save for the mega-bucks bike that he is trying to hang on to while it auto-pilots itself around the track in front of all those plebs on their dirty bikes with the wrong tyres because their owners cannot afford new ones. ----PAUSE--- (sorry, had to dab away a tear!) I really hope that my TZ135 goes ok this weekend and all the new bling that my racer has been forced to wear because his sponsored have told him too is OK. But mostly, I am really sorry you had to force those ultra expensive OHLINS GP fork that another sponsor happily (bastards) paid for on to me, I really didn't want to have to accept them but then another of the massive ammount of sponsors that I have tortured me until I relented and accepted them. I only hope that the $10/litre fuel that I burn with gay abandon wont force us to accept another podium because it just isn't fair!
Why carn't I be just another poor broken arsed racer that does nothing to help myself and be happy that I have every right tobag those that have worked hard for everything. OOOOHHHH, poor me!!!

Tall poppy syndrome Maarty, it's a kiwi thing, not just a KiwiBiker thing. We love to dislike those doing better than ourselves to make us feel better about our position. Sad state of affairs.......

like anything, the great sport of motorsickle racing is spoiled because humans are the ones doing it. Us and them my arse!! if you had millions to spend on racing, it would still be hard work, and sacrifice.
Talent isn't the answer to everything either.
To those who have worked hard, and got somewhere for it, good on you, I respect and hope to follow.

To those who are somewhere in the middle, self included, don't rest on your self imposed laurels, keep pushing,
And to those who go out and give it a twist around the track for a laugh, with no hope or expectation to over achieve, good on you.

Without any one of those groups, motorbike racing in NZ is as good as dead.

I have many people to thank for what I have, My darling wifee for entertaining a life long flight of fancy, Paul, for helping out with a great bike, Craig, for helping out with temporary parts for said bike to keep it racing, Quasi, for AWESOME new leathers (makes that Astars stuff look like a two bit hooker at the prom) Stroudy for being a legendary dude, helping out with so many aspects of racing, and being a great role model, Kerry and Robert, Tirelessly helping out with suspension, one and all.

All in all its a great paddock, and a great lot of fun, but motorbike racing doesn't make the world go round.
Boyd hh er Suzuki are my heroes!

Actually that is all good comment, with a few small exceptions the sport is indeed full of great people, the camaraderie is a hell of a lot closer than compared to say Australia.

    Been a very interesting thread!

It is an unfortunate fact of life that money always wins for the simple fact that you can't get anything for free. Progress and improvement cost! Therefore the one with the most money will always have the edge.

Of course if he, (or she), can't ride for squids no amount of money will help, but given equal skill, it's the one with the best prepared bike that has the advantage. Top motorsports like F1, MotoGP and WRC testify to the cost of winning.

Generally, the sport here shows the genuine care of those at the top towards those coming through and there has been much testimony on this thread to the generosity of the top guys. However, because racing is about winning, it is essential to do whatever one can to win and that means spending large sums of money and time and pushing the limits.

No-one really participates so that they may be known as "the nicest guy never to have won a race/series/championship". Those who complain about the amount of money the top racers are spending don't understand the nature of racing. That's what it takes, I'm afraid, and unless you have series where specs are clearly defined and restricted - as there are in most countries - money combined with skill is what wins races, not skill alone.

You don't get to be an old dog without learning a few tricks.
Shorai Powersports batteries are very trick!
