Shoei XR-1000, XL, as new, $1 reserve on TardMe

    See my auction.

Yes, I will pay more attention to sales guys in future.

Good opportunity for someone with a big head who needs a new helmet to pick up a top-notch one at way less than retail.

Yes, try Shoeis on at a shop if you haven't yet, but do not buy a helmet that isn't the right size.

I know it might be tempting, but just don't. Your head is not worth saving money on.

Shoeis tend to me tighter so you should pop over to Motomail and see whether you are large as I went down a size when going to a Shoei.

Does the XR-1000 XL size differ to the Raid XL?

The XR1000 L size is 59-60cm, and I guess the shape is "Scottish Oval", as the Arai Corsair is that shape and feels the same on, even though it should feel much better, seeing it's so much dearer...
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    I'm honestly not sure.

I rather think it does, but that could be self-delusion. I was fine in a Raid XL and then a Raid II XL for ages, though. The XR-1000 XL does seem sloppier on my head.

XL? That's not a big head.

What is it with people who engage in bidding wars on TradeMe auctions a full week out from closing?

They do nothing but advertise the existence of the auction to others and drive up the eventual closing price, without in any way increasing their chance of winning the item in question.

    I boggle.
