How many k's do you get to a tank?

I have been mostly using my bike to kane across town to get to uni, and have been getting from 230 to 270 km's from my 15l tank.
    250/15= 16.67 km to a litre.

The XLV750 does around 17km/l and gets about 280km to dry and stuck on the side of the road, but 245 to reserve. The XT400 does over 20km/l and my 20l tank should go to around 450km,I've gone 370km and not gone onto reserve,so I don't really know yet,I have two reserve taps and would like to see how far I can get on one side, but I ride away from civilisation and tend to fill when I can.

    My internal combustion usage

My girl get about 210kms before the fuel light comes on, and I reckon 250kms would be getting close to running out.

    I re-fuel after 180kms

I'm paranoid that i'll get stuck in buttfuck no where, on the side of the road.

The Brutale runs at around 9k/L , I've actually run out at 175k (19L tank!), that was all around town riding so hopefully touring should be a bit better.

I think that works out at about 25mpg.

Before anyone asks, no it's not running rich. All the Brutales are that bad. My previous MVF4 did 40mpg and could do 300k on a tank, 350k if you really had to and you took it easy.

Well the Guzzi (2 valve head) would get me 200-220km with a 19L tank which was really only 14.3L... (bloody Italians dont think that they go too school)
The Firestorm gets me 250km on a 19L tank (series 1 storms have a 16L tank)
    cheers DD

    Phew....

You've got big balls doing the 1000-miler on it Matt. What's the story? Can't all be aerodynamic differences between the F4 and Brutale surely?

The best I've got out of the 'bird is ~330k's, but have a bit of a blat with the boys and you're down to under 250 k's. Injected Hondas are known for sucking it up at larger throttle openings.

    Cheers

I get 250kms for $8 approximately, it depends on the air temperature

It's got to be something to do with how they changed the power profile for the Brutale. It's been changed so its got more grunt in the midrange hasn't it Matt?

My FZR has a 20 litre tank, with about 3 litres in reserve.

It used to get 300km untl reserve, but since I derestricted it, its now doing about 265-270 before going on to reserve. I use it mainly for commuting in traffic between Upper Hutt and Wellington 5 days a week, with the odd burn over the Rimutakas in the weekends.

Off the lights I give it heaps in the first two gears but tend to just ride in the "Meat" of the torque curve (thanks for that phrase Jim2) around 5-8000rpm, or if I'm just putting through traffic, around 4000rpm.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

So far about 23,000km and still on the original tank!!!

Normally once I'm over the 200km I start looking for a petrol station.
    The old-fashioned way I get over 55pmg, even two-up.
