so this is still the official start?

"Palmy crowd meet at BP Linton at 8.45am, leaving at 9am"

and why were we meeting at linton instead of rangitikei st? i assume there was a reason?

Yeah I reckon too, stay on the east coast and I think you'll see better weather tomorrow. East coast, east coast....i'm startin' to sound like a broken record.
Might think it over during the next few hours, maybe meet you guys at the top of the Taka's... or maybe at the bottom of the Taka's, that hill cops some shit weather at the top sometimes eh.

We are meeting at BP Linton as it saves the Ashurst crowd from having to go through town, as we'll be heading out through linton anyway. That way they can shoot round the back to linton.

I am going to be in town anyway as I am working in the morning. Should be outta here by 730 so might pop round to Yods to kick him outta bed and make me a coffee.

edit: btw, went for a quick spin after work (needed more beer, seem to get thru a fair bit while working on the bike) anyhoo....front brakes are heaps better, rear is not obviously better but should I expect them to improve as the disc/pads bed in?

You should notice an improvment as the disc and pads mate together... You could take the bike for a ride and bed them in but you will do that tomorrow anyway...
