    Arrow noises - zxr250

hi, ive been on this forum for a while but just reading stuff and not really posting,
    but...
i got a zxr 250 (its aff-mans old one) that has just started to make this nasty rattle whenever i start it. sounds like it coming from the upper end of the motor (maybe the valves) but was wondering if anyone else here has come across something like this and what they did to fix it
im gonna take it into mikes tomorrow(mt eden m/c) and see what he thinks
    cheers

Probably (fingers crossed) cam-chain tensioner. Apparently they don't function or last particularly well in ZXR250s, if you believe what some of the ZXR250 folks have said in these hallowed pages.

    Welcome, by the way.

Yeah 10bucks it’s the cam chain, same problem with mine but I’m least worried about that at this stage. ZXR are temperamental beasts at the best of time, Treat her with love and she'll be right mate
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

yer - turns out the cam chain tensioner was fuct,
however it went deeper than that because the last person to fix it did a bodge job and now from what rick says (mechanic from mt eden m/c) there is something seriously wrong in the cams and he is going to have to pull the whole thing apart to find what is wrong

on a side note, anyone want to buy a kidney??
edit: or got a spare zxr250 engine forsale???

Hmm unlucky. My cam chain got quite rattly (same engine as ZXR), mech pulled it apart and put it back together. Much quieter now!
