    88vfr400r operating temp

the temp gauge on my bike always shows the bike to be running cold. it never gets more then 1/4 way up the gauge and takes a good while to move. is this normal?
If practive makes perfect, but no bodys perfect then why practice?

Sounds quite normal. a sneaky quick test is to duct tape a percentage of the radiator area, and go for a normal ride. If you notice the temp has crept up a bit further, then you may assume that the temp sender and gauge are working normally.
Earthing the sender wire to ground, and noting that the temp needle moves to "Hot" is also a reasonable gauge check.
Also note that old coolant can be a cause of unusual temp readings. Glycol has a service life like most liquids.
    Hope this helps.

Yea my 87 nc24s heat gauge doesnt move much either when riding normally.

however If I get stuck in traffic or going up lots of steep hills and stuff it goes up to almost halfway. but It seems the fan kicks in as ive never had it go over halfway
