And I've spent most of my first day back at work (today) catching up on a couple of motorbike forum sites. I haven't even managed to read the hardcopy version of The Herald today, and I've gone off watching the news lately, for some reason.

One that no-one has found yet. It's sickening to think that she was left to fend for herself from the call at 9.00PM until they finally sent a car at 1.55AM.
This is simply abominable behaviour. I wonder how many tickets were written in West auckland while she was needing help?
They put our safety well down their list of priorities and revenue well up, yet the Commissioner gets a $70,000 raise and this at a time of record complaints against the Police and record settlements against them.
They should be ashamed to wear the uniform.
Yup! on of the perks of living in New Zealand Lou, the cops screw you at least two ways, can't get much better than that eh? Like it or lump it, what are YOU going to do about it apart from trolling on this site?

Just re-read the rest of the thread, the way the likes of jrandom and Paul speak it will give the noble Lou coniptions, you guys speak sense!

In a way all the bogus '111' calls lead to the downfall of the likes of Asher, the old story of the 'boy that cried wolf' has borne fruit.

I feel (and have often said so) that the Police are the sludge-trap of society, i.e. when the shit is happening it lands on the police - you wife is leaving you and atking her stuff? call the Police, your ex. doesn't drop of the kids on time? call the Police, you p.o.s. car has broken down? call the Police, friend gets too drunk for taxis to accept? call the Police, can't control your 12 year old son? call the Police, need a ride home and can't afford a taxi? call the Police, ad infinitum, ad neauseum blah-blah-blah.

Amazing how a couple of belts of Laphoraigh enhances the mental process and makes one less cynical!

The difference being that these reports are just that, reports of known facts that have been disclosed by investigators. Unlike the early media reports (and posts to this forum) which were pure speculation based on nothing more than an over-active imagination and a commercial need to grab headlines.
