I am also stoked to see the back of old mother Hubbard. His breakfast cereals have not been the same since he forgot he ran a company and decided to play politician. Our city has suffered too.
Banksy will do a much better job, and my breakfast will now get better.

I would hardly consider myself wealthy, but I certainly can see that Labour policies are hurtfull in more ways than purely fiscally. They are destroying new zealands moral & social compass and dumbing people down in the process. We are haemoraging ou best people left right and center...engineers, doctors, business people, educators, tradesman etc all shipping overseas. Hence I am no lefty.

Being "left" or "right" politically is not about money!

It is about the number of active "Brain Cells" you have.

Left is for beginners, advancing to the right as you "grow wiser!" John.

I wonder why Hubbard wasn't called Mother Hubbard more frquently.Especially as his deputy was Bruce Hucker, who could have been called Mother Hucker to continue the theme.

    Banks is mayor again.............

the man is a blustering, self serving, self-agrandising, big noter - just the right sort of person to appeal to the inhabitants of Auckland!

ah well - should be another Ferrari in it for him!

Come on SPman, Auckland voters don't agree with you. On Eden Park, he said it is unfair that ratepayers should pay for it when there is a fat greedy Government with huge surpluses and a rich and powerful Rugby Union. He's right.

    Go Banksie!!!

I voted for the pr0n king myself, but am still happy with the result. Socialists be damned...maybe we can get more boobies onto our billboards now.

I just hope Banks has learned some humility since last time when he was telling us what we need despite all public referendums (sic Eastern Corridor tunnel).

I recon that Banks - by far - was the best option. Love him or not - he makes a call and moves on it - unlike most in politics.

Ive written to him a few times and always received a reply - always addressing the question (easy as I was normally in support), and almost always with some humour in there (remember when he had all the protesters thrown out?)

In the Shore (where I live) - Im so glad that residence have given a big fuck off NO to that airport.

All in all I recon good results!

In national (with a small n) politics Banks finished up as a joke.

I can see why people might be pleased to be represented by by someone from the centre right, but it might have been better if that someone wasn't a certifiable flake.

For some reason Aucklanders seem to have a history of electing loopies to their Council. (More so than most anyway.)

If Christchurch is now to become the venue for the World Cup final that would be entirely appropriate. Canterbury has been the centre of rugby in this country for what seems like a long time now.

Not that it matters very much, the All Blacks probably won't be playing in the match anyway...

    ..
might be something to do with the quality of the candidates

John 'listen to all the cars tooting at me' Banks
Dick 'my cereal tastes like shit' Hubbard
Steve 'get ya tits out' Crowe
Scruff 'is that a bone through my nose' Ralph
Lisa 'yeeeha i'm a lesbian' Prager

    hmmm.... banks.

I saw an interview with Banks on tv1 (I think it was) yesterday morning, he seems to have really changed his tune. I guess we will just have to wait and see how it unfolds.
