Location of incident: Kumeu

Incident Type: Recovered Ordinance

Police closed a section of Tapu Road Kumeu as a precaution after a local resident unearthed what was described as a corroded two foot long bomb in his back yard. Some neighbouring houses were also evacuated for a short time.
Defence Force experts were called and removed the object. They will be making a separate release in relation to the incident.
The road has been reopened

I used to love going to the beach in England... walking along on a summers day with my raincoat, gloves and umbrella.... the amount of times I used to 'unearth' things.. bullets, even the odd ammo box...

There used to be a bomb scare in someones back garden around unearthed objects left over from the war everynow and again... most have been found now but people just keep digging them up! ..those daft Germans must have forgotten to arm them
