    Driftn round 6 report

    Well Ladies & gents

So 2 weeks before this meeting i make a bet(not like a Mair at all) with dodgymatt. The winner gets a slab of Heineken. Read on to find out what happens.

Nothing exciting happend on the way up for a change. However what a weekend. As we drive past the track i get a massive attack of the butterflys and cant wait get out there especially as i have never even seen the new circut before 7.30am saturday morning.

Scrub in. I pull out off the dummy grid to open up a whole new world. I wobble my way round for the first lap. To be honest i dont quite know if i liked it. Foreign track is a strange feeling got my new breakes working mint which is what i set out to do.

Qualifying. Right its time i get out there and just put my head down and set about getting a good time and mainly have fun. As i come around the sweeper/hairpin(depends on who you talk to)on to the back straight i feel and hear somthing unusual. "Thats my knee" i say to myself. The next lap just to be sure i hang off a little bit more and "YA F@#KEN HOOOO" it was my knee(Ive never had it down before can you tell?). However when i pull in and start putting my tyre warmers on(thanks poos) i find my front wheel appears to have a wee bit of a wobble. Any way i tighten it up and go see how i got on. 4th un f$#ken belivable first time going for it on the Taupo and i get 4th.. dodgymatt gets 6th.

Race 1. Unfortunatly I dont get the start which im used to(which is a primo one and leading in to the first turn) i go in to turn 1 in 3rd or 4th cant remember(dont really care). I have a good lap kept it upright after coming down that oh so long back straight into (my favorite part of the track) left and whos that standing next to his bike in the gravell but dodgymatt. I go past the line waving(trying to say the beers are mine). Lap 3 and Aria comes past me on A1 corner and i say to myself no no get your shit together boy. I out drag her down the back straight(Thanks jlo). I manage to hold her off for the last lap. As i come round the last turn with my knee down for the record i take a look back and yep enough room for a cheeky wheelie. 4th over all & 1st clubmans b.

Race 2. I get a good start and have the lead for the first lap. There is not all that much to say about this race. A dirty kumansukme past me and a gixxer. Thats me in third i manage to hold on to it for the whole race. Oh i got my right knee down aswell. see the white flag and set about staying upright. Come round the last turn again look back and yep enough time another lame but cheeky wheelie. My first proper podium finish. 3rd overall & 1st again in clbmns b. I have never been so excited i was waving my arms around so much i almost forgot about taking the corner.

So all & all a great weekend for me. I do feel a little bad about taking the beer as Matt crashed out but a bet is a bet(glad your ok man). I came away with another round win, 4th in the B championship (not bad as i missed the first couple of rounds) some scratched up knee sliders and a straight bike. Oh and i fell in love with the track.
Now my thanks to the people that made it happen.
My partner Tania once again couldnt have done it with out you, Jimmy and Sue for the bike i love her but she needs a bit of an upgrade, Dean for the garage, Nicki for having faith in me to beat matt and of course Dodgymatt for the beers. An awsome weekend had by all and bring on next winter series.
    Cheers folks.

Boy, are you not glad you didn't mix up Tania and J-Lo there?

I'd like to say 'you were looking pretty fast there man, good riding' but I can't since you were so far in front of me I couldn't comment. So instead I'll refer to your times and placings and say:

    YEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Well don e bro, you looked good out there, cant find any pics of your knee on the ground tho, cant have happened. I was wondering why my angle grinder was always in a different spot in the pits when I came in.

Complete and utter git. The fact you did it with a knackered front wheel bearing is just the icing on the cake.
