    Video game racing seat?

It seems to me that a number of you boys and girls, when you're not out riding motorbikes, like to play video games - PS, Xbox, whatever. There may even be some of you willing to admit that you play car racing games. Has anyone got a racing seat setup for their video game?
I'm talking about something like this http://www.vrconcepts.co.nz/index.ph...=2&increment=8
Does anyone know of any other place in NZ that makes/sells these things?
    Thanks.

I've seen them before on trademe and have used on, honestly though for that price, I'm happy with the lazy boy with a lap table. Although you could make one for ceaper than that.

Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.

Do you come into Welly much? Archaus Architects (Pirie St) have a dual seat set up... piece of cake to make and heaps of fun....
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

Is that something you can wander in off the street to look at, or do you need an invitation?

I have an Xbox 360 with a 106" (yeah baby) High Def (1080i) setup with full surround sound in a dedicated room. (well dedicated for xbox360 and movies).

Not quite the same - but a bloody awesome game setup none the less!

Its like being in the game !

If your using a pc the logitech wheel and pedal setup is known to be one of the best.

On my Xboc 360 I have the wheel and pedals; whilst they are good, its really dependant on the game itself. Some games work great with the wheel and pedals, others not so.

Rather sit in my lazy boy, Though I have me wheel attached to a telescopic arm, so when required it can be swung into the perfect driving position instantly.

Couple that with my projector which puts an image over the entire wall, floor to ceiling, and my killer amp and speakers.

    My happy place.

Here is a picture of my set-up.

    http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y103/russellwhitlock/ then go to PS2 Set-up.

I built it myself, at a cost a lot less than the ones you can buy. I am happy to give you a set of plans, if you want to build one too.

Also, if anyone living in Wellington wishes to try it out, I am quite happy for them to do so. I live in Taita, and can be contacted on 04 970 5849 a/h or at russell.whitlock@ird.govt.nz so we can discuss a suitably day/time for you to try it out.

That is just awesome. If you send me the plans, can you also send a set of instructions on how to get the wife to let me build it and put it in the spare room?

I would suggest doing some trolling on the Sim Racing forums (rfactor Central, Race Sim Central) and having a look in their Setup or System forums. There are some pretty good cockpit setups in them ranging from F1 car bodies with fully working suspension and steering racks to old arcade cabinet conversions to simple aluminium extrusion frames. Grab some ideas from as many of the posts as you need to get a concept drawing and wishlist done up, then go fishing for help.
