Thread: YES!...what a race!!!!

Wow,great race alright, classic Rossi - not great on the first lap, putting in some good moves, then getting behind Sete and pushing him all the way to the finish.Poor Sete, with Rossi so close behind he knew what we all knew, even on the limit of his bike,if Rossi is that close,he can pass easily.Like a cheater running down a rabbit, the last place you want to be is in front of Rossi..Sete's done a brilliant job all year, but Rossi has really rubbed Honda's nose in it,good on him.Edwards as team mate next year? hmmm,I think Colin may have peaked,Rossi not yet by a long way.

It certainly was an incredible example of riding by both the 'Doctor' and the 'Mullet'

It amazes me how Rossi can control a race. He's always got a bit in reserve, and always looks so smooth (even on the dirt).

Must be a real bastard to be riding in the same competition.

Well I see that Suzuki has a space for another rider now that Hopkins looks set to move to Ducati to replace Bayliss.

Makes you wonder. The chaps at Suzuki can build something like the GSXR 1000, win AMA & BSB , but haven't been able to build a decent GP or MotoGP bike for ages (2000 doesn't really count, lovely handling bike but too slow, and Rossi in his first year).

Would be a challenge for the 'Doctor' though.

Shame - he didn't need to. He rode a brilliant race, and had no reason to feel bad.
Apart from the fact he and Rossi are having a personal war at the moment...

Someone should tell him life's too short for that nonsense.
    Any volunteers?:spudwhat:
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    Mighty fine race.

I personally think that it was obvious after before Malaysia that Rossi had Gibernau mindfucked. And lets face it that's why he'll never be a Rossi. Rossi couldn't care less whether he looses a "friend", if you're standing between him and his goal you're gone. Where as Gibernau is a pleaser and it shows. Too much of a nice guy for his own good.

Doesn't have the animal instinct to be a truely great rider.

You guys talking of moves to Suz and Zwaka do remember that Rossi has already said he'll see out his gp career with Yamaha.

Already looking foward to next season. Tis funny, Last time I was really into motogp, Rainey was the guy I followed, now again the top guy is on a Yamaha. Everythings right in the world (well except for the missing r6 from my garage).

Hopes for the last race - Sete grows some balls, and decides to try and stick it to Rossi and save some face in front of his home crowd. Should be a good race.

Final thought - Edwards will be the perfect team mate if he takes well to the Yamaha (think Schummacher and Barricello). In which case we'd get some yummy yammy 1, 2, finishes.

Who was the lucky bastard to get his helmet? Hope it was a kb'er, would hate to think a slimey aussie got it.
Hayden - Evidence that even the mediocre can achieve great things.

Yes bloody good race, louder than last year and nearly as fast only Capirossi topped 330km/h. Those bikes going past you doing over 300ks was mindblowing.
Aussie superbike race was very good, Aussie supersport again very very good being won by a Kawasaki helps, Aussie 125s a good battle.
Stunt bikes OK same stunts over & over again
    Crowd was huge,
Lynda looked like she was a Ducati sign post, I think she must be sponsered by Ducati,
Kiwizrx and his wife looked like they were dressed by Kawasaki
MCNews marquee was crowded as usual
New 2005 ZX6R looks really trick, they had a cut away model on display
KTM super Duke with the 950 motor was interesting
New Suzi GSXR1000 got the prize for the ugliest muffler
Some very tasty looking MV Augustas on display
Yamaha had Rossi's first bike for the year on display
Honda wins the prize for the 2 most ugly bikes in their stand with the Jesse James VT1800 whatever and the Rune, Rume again whatever. Bad case of the UGLY pills working overtime.
Saw a good number of crashes in practice with Checas being the best, followed closely by Pedrosa's on his 250 both at Hayshed (fast)
Cowes on Friday night was quietest in years, no band on the waterfront.
Plenty of Kiwi's on plane last night

Will try and post some photos later.

Rossi and Gibernau are basically the ones that have been getting good starts and pushing reasonably hard all race and the game is all about tyres lasting the distance too. These stats make interesting reading - Loris set the lap record followed by Barros and Troy was 5th fastest with Rossi 4th and Edwards only 6th. Yet Edwards passed Barros in the closing stages and was closing in on Loris to finish a split second behind him. To finish first you have to finish first and records don't count for much huh!

... and as mentioned by Doug, here are the event maximum speeds. Rossi's bike was only 11th fastest, but he don't give a shit - he just wins the race anyway.

As good as he is it would seem Mr Rossi is making a habit of making enemies with his closest rivals. Can't all be Max's fault eyh!

Interesting to read others opinions on the race. Personally I think Rossi made a mistake trying to piss Gibernau off- I thought Gibernau rode bloody well, he seemed to have the attitude "there's no way I'm gonna let that little wanker win". He got past Rossi more than once without drama, so he must have some decent skills. I thought that Gibernau wouldn't have tried so hard if all the BS hadn't happened at Quatar, plus Rossi knew he HAD to win, to back up all the talk. Made for a better race I guess.
I can see why Rossi plays mind games- it obviously works in most cases. If Gibernau looses a few more races he's probably done for, cause he'll start getting worked up everytime he's dicing with Rossi, which is what Biaggi seems to do.
