    SV as a race bike

I am wondering about the differences between the nekkid and faired SV's?
I am wanting to build my own and before I hand over the folding I don't want to get caught in a bugger moment by buyin the wrong type.
This is sorta aimed at the blokes that have already built a bike but any info welcome.

If you are building a race bike then the differences mean sweet F all
The chain gearing is different --Big deal-you're gonna convert to 520 anyways so thats a big nuffing.
Peg position is slightly different--again big deal--you will change em anyways.
The frame on both has lugs for aftermarket stuff so again whoopie.
The naked has tubular bars that you'll need to replace with clipons but again that aint a major.
Me If building a racer up I'd start with a Nekkid cos its a grand cheaper
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?

I am told by the importer that there is a difference in swingarm length on some models between the Neked & Faired, but why this would be I am not sure

hi i have just built my own sv from a stock road bike as frosty said most ov the stuf on the bike you will end up replacing that is if you want a compeditive race bike ?? but ther are a few small things between the naked an s model that affected me. i had to change the throtil control and all throtil cables to fit in with my fairing. the s model has a remote resivwa (excuse spelling) where as naked has conventional resivwa ontop of the master cylinder

Love the spelling Sam (it's reservoir but your phonetics are spot on) They crash well too those nekkid models...

Yeah, as above Brandon. I know Sam's problems were a bit of a pain with the throttle cable etc. Just going through that myself atm as mine too is a nekkid and to fit the fairings I am currently putting on I think we need to do the same with mine as with Sams. Give Billy a call (number listed below) and he can probably give you a bit more info on the particular issue that we are talking about.
    Exploring pastures anew...

Take a look at the following site:

    http://www.jhsracing.co.uk/mini_twins.htm

The Mini-Twins series is very popular over here - and the SV650S is the main bike in the series.

Hopefully you will find some useful information - or in some of the links they provide.

What would be of interest to me is how many of the bikes sold in NZ are US spec models vs UK spec. I havent looked hard but all the naked ones I've seen have been US spec and all the s versions are UK spec.

The 2003 model (injected) has a different frame to the later models ( or is that just the rear subframe) and there are also different radiators on the latter models as well as other mods to the oil circulation in the motor.

Dunno if Suzuki tell you what models are more likely to go bang or have issues but these motors are pretty bullet proof until you start hotting them up IMO.
