Woohoo! Try bring as many Wellingtonians up with you as you can If any of them can't ride Wellington-Taupo-Wellington in one day, they're welcome to stop here the night

Meekey and or Speights Bud could lead the ride. Can Tart coordinate the bikes at the end of the ride? Ie indicate when to switch off and hold the 2 minutes silence and then the ride away? I'll do whatever is necessary to keep this campaign public and make it a success....speak to the masses, ride shotgun, suicide watch on the intersections, whatever, I don't mind! Just give me some notice, is all i ask!
MM, is there a Ulysses club in Taupo?
They would prolly help out as ride marshalls etc, if asked.

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

This all sounds good, if the RG has had the brakes sorted out then i'll ride that directly up there, it sounds like i have work off at this stage so count me in, i've always got a few sick days left.

i can also lead you guys who are heading up early and directly to meekeys place in the morning and go from there if thats what we decide. I'd be more than happy to assist in leading the ride/holding traffic at the intersections

Wouldn't hurt to PM 'Grub' and see what's already been organised

Do you seriously expect me to believe that these politicians would implement policy based on nothing more than bullshit......

We will have a look at the brakes over the w/end. If they are ok, at this stage, you could run it in this weekend with MM down. you could put her bike in the van on Saturday.

We could pull them out again and try to clean them up a bit more. You could take them back to Auckland and turn up some new ones. I will get some seals and we can put it back together on Sunday the 2nd. You need to do some Ks on the bike this weekend to make sure it is reliable as We are going the long way around to Taupo and you can't drive the van and ride on Tuesday. You brake down you are stuck on the road for the rest of the day till we get home and back to you.

    Hey guys,

I rode the suggested route again today to time it at and below 70kph, it is only a couple of mins shorter.... BUT SH5 is pretty appalling atm. The seal is melting really badly and they've laid loose chip over it. It is pretty dodgey to ride through, I would suggest we turn at Taharepa St, which you can see on the map... http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=e...,0.050898&z=14

I think that is the old route, but you can see Taharepa on there... It takes about 4 mins off the ride.

    What do you all think?

That looks pretty good, i think that if you set the ride you think is appropriate then that will be fine, we are all out there to make a stand/impression and ride together, you just tell us where to go and it'll be all good

Hey - just a thought here....if the bottom of SH5 is so bad, why not change the route to cut left up Broadlands Rd to Miro St, through the industrial area, right on Crown Rd, left at the shops and on down Tauharepa as before?? Adds some distance otherwise lost, and gets a lot of extra exposure??

    You mean something like this?

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=e...0338&z=14&om=1

The only issue i can see is that if we have a decent turn out then there could be a few problems with holding up more intersections ?

Hi John. W and I might go up on Sunday and have a look at the ride root. You interested? Should be a nice day for a ride.
