When I picked him up he spitting dirt & a little blood...no serious damage to him, just a tad sore. Good gear helped look after him.

A good illustration as to why you have to be careful on those back roads...

Well, they were his sacks, don't think they got ripped but I think they took a bit of a hit on his trip over the bars.

I sold my gsx600f at 107,000km earlier this year. They are good bikes for touring on. I did the 4 points on mine last year wearing a backpack. Had an awesome time.

That is some fairly shocking gravel right about there. Alot like the gravel/shingle on the piahatua track at the moment.

Nearly all men can stand adversity and hard time, but if you want to test a mans true character, give him power....

yea sure is especially in good ole new Zealand there are some nasty roads and the government doesn't really take top priority in fixing them either.

Talking to a guy who lived there anther guy had an even more serious off there on the same crap the week before.

I think that that is Mangaone Road out the back of Halcome. Apparently the sheep farmer runs his sheep across the road all the time and they drag crap across the road all the time. I'm certainly a lot more careful through there now...

    Road conditions

Just got a PM from Sassie1 about road conditions up where we're headining, see below:

Hi there, just a quick note to let you know they put some pretty big sharp gravel down on some of the unsealed bits of the road. We went through a couple of weeks ago and one lady came off and broke her leg, a guy with a brand new FJR 1330 lost his bike when he had to move over to let a car through. My other 1/2 has a Honda 1300 Pan European and it was hard to guide through. Just be aware that's all. Bye Sal.

    Thanks for that!
