eek New Plymouth newbie pom (martybabe)

Hi guys, newly arrived pom in new plym, looking for places to go and people to meet in taranakakiaki.any ideas for a 50 year old harley rider.I do see the harley boys chug through but short of throwing myself under the chromic munsters and causing a major twatup just to have a chat I duno what to do to get informed. I've yet to find a hog that stops in new plym they just seem to keep going, must know somthing I don't.So come on friendly kiwi biker peeps tell me all the secret places where little hogs hide.p.s. not related to any rugby referees of english origin.

    Welcome

    Hi

I ride a Honda so don't know too much about where the Harley riders go...

Image Motorcycles on Eliot Street sell Harleys and I think Neal the owner has or had one himself. They have a run to Kawhia for lunch this weekend leaving the shop at 9.30AM Sunday. Whatever, Neal or Jan should know about what the Harley riders do.

There is a ride from Energy Honda every other Thursday during daylight saving @ 6.00PM (this week is it), these are Pie and Pint runs. I haven't seen a Harley on any of those but I've seen other cruisers quite often. It isn't always in the nature of a mass run, it's more a "go at your own speed" run. It's just that sometimes, to the casual observer, it must look more like a race...

On the alternate Thursday there are runs from the Caltex station across from Image about 5.30PM. These guys are tough (or silly :-), they go all year round

Depending on your age there could be the Ulysses Club (the local branch rides tend to be a bit more ummm sedate). There is also a Classic bike club and there may even be one for Harleys. Talk to the guys at the shops.

Runs are also organised through this means on occasion.

See you on the road :-)

    Fatboy

Guess the Harley wouldn't handle the backroads without knobblies., I,m a BMW rider, you would be embarrased to be on the same road I guess.
Call in and talk some shit with Brian at Versatile Garages at Waiwakaiho.
He's got 2000cc in his Harley, and a Buell lightning for the twisty bits.
Or Just ride to Awakino for a whitebait fritter on any weekend and there'll be truckloads naki bikes there,...............or Whanga pub of course, the other truckload will be there.
    cheers

unfortunately it seems theres alot of people who like to have their own groups..and harley riders around here tend to be a bit annoying in the ways that they don't like sport bike riders. perhaps its just me..also, try the local destiny church they all ride harleys. just don't join..its a bit more cult than christian..
