But Murphys Law states your shock is the wrong size.

Was thinking Torrington Bearing ? Then realised it was a Thrust Bearing after your explaination.

Presume you want to adjust this every time you take a pillion. Me thinks you just going to have to reach a compromise or your ring nuts will get worn out in no time not to mention the hassle.

Also get a couple of motorcycle tiedowns and you will be able to do all your front fork work as well very easilly.
You are quite right Garry. Constant adjusting will wear components rather quick so as yo usaid a comprimise is needed. The thrust bearing is a no go by the way, not enough meat on the lock ring as the spring would not be retained.

I have put this in the other manawatu thread but never mind..

I raised the rear end by about 20mm (approx 8mm at the adjuster ) and reset the rear shock rebound to what Robert Taylor suggested...

Went for a quick squirt and OMG the bike turns in alot quicker and the rear feels like a huge improvment. It is firm but still soaks up what bumps I could hit.. There was no dancing across the road when leant over.

Can't wait to take it for a decent blat.

I have sent spring measurments to Robert and he will send over an Ohlins Replacement spring to trial which will be more suited to my weight......

Will be interesting as to what differnece this makes.

How's about Ashhurst, Gorge, Balance, Pahiatua Track(the long way around, maybe even on to Eketahuna and loop back to Pahiatua) back though balance over the Saddle sound?

Be carefull of the cow poos and sunstrike.

    I'm in i'm in...

can't wait to get out again....

Gave the bike some love today so it needs to be ravished on some twisties... Will be two up though..

Oil change/ gear lever adjusted/ new brake light switch (again)/ chain tightened/ idle RPM dropped a tad/ air box opened up a little/ carbs enrichened for more air flow...

Saw 86 at milson roundabout this afternoon, was going to give chase and demand home made coffee lol.. Had birthday cake and glue to pick up though..

    I like tinkering..

The new paddock stand turned up today so it will make all this work so much easier.... It is here if anyone needs... Must not leave my garage though lol..

Oh and there is a 14T front sprocket on it's way, shall be fitted tomorrow night hopefully... Yay, I will be able to ride below 50km/h without getting whiplash from jerky gearing being to tall...

    mmm coffee...

well - I left work early this arvo and took the RF for a WOF (no probs, bit of a story with the dodgy indicator tho), then shot down to ANZA and actually got on the Sprint: nice, comfy, a little more upright than the RF but not as much as the concours, comfy, black, nice, comfy, great seat, comfy but....no panniers, they have no idea where they are which is a bit of a shame

    dreams are free....

then I sat on the '07 Firestorm they got (in RED so it goes faster) run out model for $13k...yup $13k fark thats tempting, seating position was nice, felt quite balanced...but...seat was a LOT harder than the sprint...dunno if my poor skinny white arse could handle it on long distances

    dreams are free....

then I went for a wee pootle on the trusty RF.... i like my bike
