Well guys I have my bike up on Trademe so all I have to do is wait for something to bite, might be a while. Anyway if any of you know of someone who wants to trade a SV1000 or VTR100 for a red Hornet, or even buy my bike, then give me a pm.

Don't think there's going to be any time for riding this weekend. Rain warning issued for Auckland.

Your not on xtra slow xtra ordinary are you?
Well if the weather DOES clear enough I'm going riding tomorrow, I just need a little advise on riding 2 up. Do's and don'ts for us both etc. Apparently Al has found a cure for the pillons tiny butt sliding foward on the seat under braking. Something about a non slip rubber mat attached to the seat? Sounds like my swedish cover I had on the Jaded One.

Which Al? If it's me yep, I did find a solution with some non skid mat. Worked a treat. Nah, not on my pc at the mo, goddam dial up should be banned! Pillions? So much to know. Take it easy to start with, find out what they're comfortable with. Never take risks with them. Watch the extra weight, don't make them lean counter to what you're doing. Watch your braking distances. Communicate with them. Enjoy.

Hardly likely to be this Al, Al! My pillion solution was to remove the rear footpegs and get the pillion her own bike. Worked a treat!

that was my intention as well, I have even purchased the footpeg blanking kit and the single seat cowling from the triumph675.net site! And.... then.... I somehow got sidetracked by Joanna and even caught myself thinking how practical the plank seated 2up tourers like Yods and the 955's really were...

I know... WTF was I thinking!

On a serious note, its been funny how paranoid I have become since caving on the life long "no pillions" rule and letting her on the back. I ride alot slower, I have been sourcing a ton of gear for her and if she keeps riding, she'll end up atleast as armoured as me, more likely more so!

It would seem I have been a rather aggressive rider and riding smoother, more relaxed and courteously is actually not as natural or easy as I assumed it would be.
I'm having to think and plan more as opposed to just carving through stuff and reacting to what ever comes my way with my usual arrogant "I'll get through, I always do" attitude.

Interesting times ahead I think... and good times too.

tell your pillion to 'squeeze the knees' on your hips under braking, will help stop the family jewels connecting with the tank

hmmm so many problems with that...so many.
    1. nice! but distracting, no?
    2. I already ride with my nuts hard on the tank. I hate not having the contact sitting further back lacks
    3. Distracting but nice...
    4. Shes going to get mightly sore thigh muscles by rides end... not really ideal unless the day ends when the riding ends.

The problem isnt me getting shoved into the tank, its more the fact I naturally sit so far forward and when she slides forward herself she nearly drops down into my seat cutout

Sounds like what you need is a Triboseat. Got one for my bike for when i have to put the rear seat on. And it works perfect.
