Right then, V.Hill it is then, we can discuss the finer points before we set out.

Will this ride be suitable for newbies (ish)?

Got a lil bike and a restricted licence... just enough to be dangerous!!

i assume they're talking about the vinegar hill/halcombe hill loop which would go something like this

    http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?f=d&so...,1.230469&z=10

roads are all good condition - whether the distance is ok is up to you

fresh-trax rides with us a fair bit, she also has a scorpio and handles these rides fine

Yeah, distance is HUGE for a friday night ride
Had'nt actually considered coming back though Halcome but now you mention it....
I was thinking of doing a u-turn at the top of V.Hill and coming back the way we came with a refreshment stop at either Cheltenham, Feilding or Ashhurst. The only thing I would really have against returning back through Halcome would be the stint on SH1 but it definitely not a deal breaker for me anyway.

An option is to head back through vinegar hill then flick right and take the fun roads out the back of Halcombe, Missing SH1. Sly knows them intimately.

Yeah that's a thought but we don't need the route getting too compicated, just opens the door for people to lose their way. If Sly does'nt get his electrical shit together he might not be at the FNR...

Sounds like a plan brewing, very good roads those. Hmmmm, and they lead straight to Murray's I believe.

So... riders don't often get lost on the rides then? Most roads are straight forward not like Tararua. If you like I can put some cat's eyes out to show the way.
