Phone etiquette in a flat set-up?

so you don't mind been woken up by the phone ringing at 1am and the only way to stop it is to answer it even if he isn't home to take the call

I agree...I'm fairly laid back, but I really dislike having the phone ring after about 8/8.30...mostly because our house is not that big and my son goes to bed at that time I guess...

And also cos I was brought up in a very strict environment, and that was part of the etiquette.

Guess its a bit difference. I Own the flat I'm in, and if my flatmate doesn't like it, he can get out.

The guys I live with used to be a noisey bunch, music thumping at 1am during the week. I put up with it in order to keep the peace, but one morning I found it a bit too much- walked into the lounge in me tightey-whities and yelled at them all SHUT THE FUCK UP AND TURN THE MUSIC DOWN
