    Leather Direct

    Hey team
Can anyone give me an opinion on the choice & quality of the gear sold at leather direct as well as any service experiences.
Looking at different options for gear & this place has come to mind (particularly as my daughter is applying for a job in Wgtn hence the service question...cheers).
While the gear doesn't have the flash brand labels is it off to assume that it's all made from roughly the same place ie India, Pakistan etc so therefore savings can be made by buying the "Pam's" type brand?

Their gear seems really good for the price. I bought a race suit off them a month or so ago, and the quality seems really good. Double stitched seams etc (which a lot of more expensive brands don't seem to be anymore) and a really nice fit, and good price. It was Brixton brand which I think is made in Czhekzilvakia (sp) or something. I payed a lot more for a Tecnic suit which was a total write off after one bin.
Anyhoo, more than happy with the goods. Some of the jackets they had on the rack looked to be of really good value for money as well.

It's hard to evaluate the entire range of a single dealer I must say. Easier to comment on individual brands.

While it's true that some of the more expensive brands don't show double stitching on the outside some of them have folded/layered stitching which are even better.

Just because two jackets are made in Pakistan doesn't mean they are of comparable quality and finish. There are many manufacturers and they are all different.

Make sure you try the stuff on before you decide on what to pay for.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the recomendations, Quasi's gear has been on the list as well as a good excuse to hit the road to Hamilton for a try on. Was looking at various gears in various bike shops in Wellyville and triggered onto these guys today.
Guess I want to explore as many options as poss before commiting the tosh and KB provides a good pool of advice.

I brought some gear off leather direct in cuba st (wellington) a year or so ago, there service was brilliant, the sales girl's (2) were friendly & helpful, a pleasure to deal with ! When I had finished there were bike jackets piled up on the floor, nothing was too much trouble.
One of the items I purchased was faulty & the leather direct people liased with my local bike shop to 'put it right'. I would happily recommend them for their products & service .

Although I have never, no I tell I lie, i did buy a pair of summer R-jays gloves off them in Cuba street as well. I always go in there when I'm in Welly to talk to the spunky dark-haired shops assistant (the one thats been there for a while), she is awesume and always smells good! Their gear looks ok. I have a leather direct jacket that is still primo and it is 20 years old, albeit a tad smaller I can still fit in!
Did you daughter get the job?
