gn400 spacer problems

Hey there guys

My gn250 (gn400 wheels/swingarm) has a problem. I seem to have lost the spacer for the rear wheel that sits between the sprocket hub and the wheel
I asked colemans and they said they might be able to get one in from japan if its still made, i dont know if its still being made but i doubt it.

Seeing as the spacer is just a little cylinder that steps out, i thought i might aswell fabricate one. I have all the measuring tools eg. Micrometer, Verniers, Straight Edge and i also know of a mean arse Serbian fabricator that can lathe the bitch up for me.

But here in lies my question... What in the name of all penis do i make it out of? I have access to titanium, aluminum, several flavors of steel ect, but i can find the spacer anywhere to see what it was made of...

on the other hand... Anyone have a gn400 wheel lying around in their shed with that spacer that they would be happy to part with? Beer will be given in return...

The original was made out of a free cutting mild steel that was bright zinc electroplated.

Alloy will crush easily unless its one of the higher end grades 6061 or 7075, steel will rust unless you plate it, and for one it will cost more than a new one! I would personally make it out of any old grade of stainless that I happened to have lying around.

dodgy serbian mate is a fitter and turner for a company that makes super yacht masts. So i have access to the stuff for pretty much free.

And now for the $64000 dollar question...

The stepped collar is meant to be the width of the sprocket hub bearing's inner ring and then the stepped bit actually goes inside the bearing center... i have an idea of how to measure it up length wise, but i was just wondering, if its the width of the inner bearing, wont that mean that the other end (that sits on the wheel bearing) will be of a greater diameter than my wheel bearing inner? Is this a problem or is it meant to be like that?

dude the spacer MUST NOT press on anything but the bearing center -ie the middle ring -if it pushes on the bearings themselves its not a good thing
