    Need an electrician urgently

I am based in Wellington and I need someone who would be prepared to come out and sort the draining battery that I have...I think it is the alarm/immobiliser that is causing the problem, but if I knew that for sure, I'd probably know how to fix it... any suggestions? Thanks

Its really easy to do it yourself. Get a meter, even a cheap one will be fine. Put it on the DC amps range. Remove the earth lead from the battery, and use the meter to provide the circuit from battery NEG to ground. Then flick fuses out until the meter says zero. You have found your problem circuit. Depending on how often you use your bike, even a small load like an alarm will discharge the battery over time.

But, a faulty charging circuit may also be to blame. Alternator/rectifier/regulator/battery must all be OK before your battery will charge.

You dont say how long the bike sits for, but it might just be a sulphated battery. If the battery is of the standard wet cell type, you may wish to get it replaced for a Yuasa Yumicron type that is a wet cell, but has more starting capacity, and extra plates to prevent the battery sulphating. Mine was only $70 and works better than ever. Other wise follow davereids advice. Its very good. A Sparkie..

Thanks - I appreciate the advice. It was indeed the alarm, which I think needs replacing.

That sounds a good strategy for me as I'm not using the bike a great deal...thanks for your reply.
