What's wrong with people these days?

Anyway, I took the cage to uni today since it might start pissing down later and my legs are fucked anyhow...
So after having dropped off my better half I find myself sitting at some of the very very slow lights on my way out to Uni. The car in front of me, a red Supra, all of the sudden expels a smoking cigarette butt right out onto the road.

Now, I can get quite ranty about shithead drivers who can't wrap their heads around efficient traffic flow, who doesn't care to look or indicate before turning or changing lanes, etc. I also find it bad manners to smoke in your car unless you keep your windows closed. Usually I don't get pissed off enough to actually do something about it. ...but not today!

Knowing that the lights are usually red for quite a time I got out of my car, a bit shaky since I was pissed off. Walked up, picked up the butt, handed it back to the fat bitch (sorry, but she was actually) saying "Sorry, I think you dropped something." She replied "Oh, thank you." Walked down and got back into the car. Man, I was pissed off. The way some people behave, either they are completely oblivious to the fact that there's a world out there that they have to share with the rest of us or they simply don't give a fuck.

Funny though, that this was what it took to set me off enough to actually go out and address the issue.

So how's your day been so far?

But yes, I agree...most people are selfish and should really get injected with a healthy does of Give A Toss...

Silver lining: they're not all like that!

Pah. I'd just wait for you to split up the side, gently ease to a stop beside me at the front of the queue, reach out my window and tidily deposit my roll-up butt in your left pocket.

If you did that to me I would stub it out on your little weasel face, get out of my car, get in yours, pull down my pants and drop a steamy one on your seat.

Next time, mind your own business. Bloody do-gooders.

Jebus people will moan about anything on here. I have a bad habbit of tossing my fag ends out the window too, fair enough, I shouldn't litter, but HTFU. The street sweaper gets most of them.

You were driving a car, expelling noxious gasses into the atmosphere, hope you planted a tree to make up for it, and one for the return trip home.

You guessed it, I hate hippies.

This is not about the smokers really. It's about littering while driving. If she'd been throwing something else out I'd still have confronted her with it.

One thing I found absolutely wonderful about NZ 4 years ago was that you never saw anyone throwing stuff out of their cars or on the street while walking. Now a days I see it every day and yes it is not cool. If you think it is cool, then you quite frankly need to get a reality check - someone else will have to pick up your mess unless we're to walk around in shit up to our necks.

    As for smoking:
While I don't give a toss about how you choose to defile your own lungs, I do find it disturbing when I get bothered by someoneelse smoking in their car on my way to work... in my car... with my windows closed...
So yeah, that is bad manners, just as if I got up at 3 am and chose to crank my amp up to 11 and hold a small charity concert for the benefit of insomiacs.

    Wow...

I'm a non smoker, but, every other teenage (or damn close to it!) smokes here in Norway. I'm always asked if I want a smoke, or a snus (the black kind of powder you put on your gum, like smoking without the smoke), but I always refuse. My friends all smoke in front of me, and I don't have a problem with it. They choose to smoke, I don't, simple. If you don't like it, move away. As for, getting shitty about her throwing her butt out the window, because she had her window down and smoking, did you think about the emissions your car/bike was letting out into the atmosphere?? And if she had children in the car, wouldn't she be doing a good thing by having the window down? Forgive me if I'm wrong, coz I haven't been in NZ for a long time, but isn't that what they encourage you to do???

As far as I'm concerned, smoking causes health problems, but what doesn't? And emissions cause much more damage than that. Get out and walk or take a public transport, coz obviously you live in a city. Her smoke isn't the problem, your smoke is.

Good on you Mik. Thats quite a funny story.

I've had a cig nearly hit me in the face one day while on my bike. And dont even get me started on the cocks that throw glass bottles out their windows!

Ditto - and yeah, I pay for my own petrol and the environmental charges that comes with it. And frankly I wouldn't mind paying more for it if that meant people would be more conscious of the impact it has. Also, I eat my steak with pleasure and I pay for it too.

Littering is not about HTFU, it's about being anti-social and not facing up to your resposibilities as a citizen. As someone has said - there's a real world out there where your actions do have consequences. As such, unless you're actively striving to be an asshole and piss everyone off, you should at least clean up your own mess. I.e. grow up and accept your obligations as an adult, fucking sad if you have to have younger people come up and educate you on how to behave like an adult is all I can say.

Gutsy actions!! Woo hoo. To the point and assertive. Still in control.

I wonder if she told anyone of this event later in her day? And how she would have painted the story.

Hope u had a better day after this.

    Agh, horrible stuff.

I agree with you Mikkel that there is too much litter around and people are too casual about throwing rubbish on the ground. As for ciggie butts, thats why there is an ashtry in the car, use it guys. I'm not anti-smoking, I love having a cigar every now and again, I'm just anti-litter.

Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.
