Well, thing is the very very competent telecom companies have so far not managed to provide us with broadband at home yet. (Bit of a bitch since internet is a handy way to communicate with people on the other side of planet)
So at the moment I do all of my internet out of uni - and it sucks since it's 3 cents per Mb international traffic
Bittorrent is then an expensive way to go...

2 funniest bits were when the Chairman of the Beeb stole the car, and when he went to the meeting with every minority they could fit at the table. I almost pissed myself when they panned past the dwarf.

BitTorrent: to help reduce the amount thats uploaded from your machine you can limit the speed at which other machines can upload from yours (like 1kB/s). Problem with this is that your machine becomes undesirable to connect to (and share with), which means it takes much longer to get what you want. Trick is to configure your BitTorrent program to have a global upload speed at quite a high rate (like 'unlimited'), but as you start each download you set the upload rate for that file at 1kB/s. That way you are downloading 700MB for a movie, but if your upload speed is limited to 1kB/s you might have only uploaded 10MB to other machines. Not super friendly but.... meh. Our internet sucks.

Please correct me if I'm wrong folks.

Sounded like a good idea... can't find anywhere to set the speed for individual files though.

Using which client? uTorrent is great for PC's... I know you're not a Mac user

Oh, didn't think there were different clients. I'm using BitTorrent 5.0.9.

And I take that as a compliment. You just saved my day
