    SH16 motorway extension

Just in case anyone is interested. Here's some pics off the 'net of what the North-Western link thru to the Shore is gonna end up like (the roadworks make it kinda obvioous too). It'll good for me thats for sure! Live on a quiet island and be 4 mins of open road away from the NW'ern and Northern! I have a pic somewhere that is way better resolution and shows all the zoning and everything. Will have a poke around for it.

Any idea of the timeframe for that?

Also, it looks like 3 lanes each side coming from the city. Widening the 2 lane part of SH16 out to Westgate is long overdue.

Hopefully the section from Hobby to Constellation will be opening soon. It appears that roadmarking and a sweep is all that is needed, then some dipshit of a politician will cut a ribbon. A new piece of road that can be used as a carpark...

We'll all be dead before it's finished. I mean, how fast can 2 guys build a motorway?

Especially when we have a "building season" for roads...

Probably like duck shooting season and equally as long.

they would be quicker if they werent sharing the one wheelbarrow.

i love all these Auckland motorway extensions and shit, everytime i am up there the only difference i have seen, is they have made room for more vehicles to sit on them going nowhere for hours.

They should be starting it as soon as they finish the Greehithe section.

Yeah the Constellation link look like it'll be soon. They have poured most of the barriers.

I've seen men in hardhats (in the open?) suits and surverying gear at the end of the NW'ern lately but who knows?

RM, they build roads in Dubai and Finland. Do they stop here when it's too hot or too cold I wonder?

I worked on that motorway with Renegade. They only stopped when it was too dangerous to work. During the winter there is no way they could get their heavy machinery across the site, nor our small utes to test the fill.

Cool! That was more a poke at RM, I've been watching the work with interest. My mate lives at the house thats pretty much in the middle of the site office at Cuthill. Did you do anything on the tunnels? Went up for a look the other day and the cutting for the other side of the bridge (above the sewage lakes on the south side) is looking pretty massive! Thats a lot of dirt and a gap for a huge bridge.
