I think you have a valid point here V.
Some of us stumble upon this place in a search for information and experience as we try to get into the whole biking scene. Being a complete newbie to everything bike related I guess I don't have much knowledge about bikes to share - so does that mean I should just remain a lurker or is it still ok to post a few questions and throw in my 2 cents worth? With time I have experiences that may be valuable for other members, I'll stumble upon and post questions that have merit and eventually I might be able to help someone else solve a problem. At least that's what I would hope for.
IMHO an internet forum is valuable mainly because it's a handy way to share information and knowledge between users with very different backgrounds and experience.
If it's a friendly place with a good social side to it (and KB seems to be mostly like that) then that's an added bonus. However, my only concern would be that if anyone is indeed just posting to up their postcount then you'll just muddy the serious threads (i.e. on-topic) with more spam. Sure enough this can be moderated - but it's still work for the mods.
In the end - post counts![]()
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Yes, I agree...what i meant by my conclusion, is that I saw that I came down from 2000 (just over by 6 too...) to just over 600. So I guess I realised I wasn't really posting much in the "serious" threads...
And I'm okay too about not knowing much on bike engineering...
So what conclusion did you come to then?
Exactly!!!!
Post count may have become (to some) part of their online identity, hence the insecurity that arose from loosing said post counts...
Well, that's my freudian half assed interpretation anyway...
Bottom line is: we're still the same bunch of people, KB is still the awesome site that it is and tomorrow looks fantastic for a ride!![]()
bugger so I dropped from over 1000 to 740ish.....
My 1000th post thread will now have to happen again!
Can't see the point to be honest, internet forum post counts either tell you that the person has nothing better to do or they have been on the forum longer than you. To me it doesn't mean more experience as you'd be dumb to believe half whats written on forums anyway unless they can back it up.

Equality for all, hide the post count all together.
Problem solved.
You know what's cool?
"1000th post" threads will now become impossible. Because, you see, they will be off topic in anything but 'Rant or Rave', and posts there don't count toward your total!
One's 1000th (or whatever) post will always have to be bike-related, and that is the way it should be.
Of course, you can then go post something in RoR and pat yourself on the back, but that post itself will not be your "1000th".
I'm all about it.

About time, too.
Here's a tip to remember: when in doubt (which, if I were you, would be pretty much always), just shut up.
What you have written and posted to this forum to date has made a fair number of people dislike you. That's not an insult or anything, just a plain statement of fact for you to consider. If you, like most of us, prefer to go through life with the respect and regard of other people, you might want to closely examine the way you interact on KB. You have created an image of yourself as a vapid fool with no real interest in or knowledge of bikes.
Bear in mind that this is a forum intended for motorcyclists, which you most definitely are not. Even when discussing non-bike-related topics, that fact remains constant. You are not an accepted part of this particular community; you are simply foisting yourself upon it.
That situation can change, but first, you will have to change.
There are plenty of NZ-based online forums for young people to hang out in and use for their discussions without annoying older folk who associate with each other on the basis of specific shared real-world interests. The suggestion has been made to you several times that you seek out those forums and take your contributions there, rather than using SpankMe's resources (which many of us also support financially on a regular basis) to engage in what the majority of the KB members see as pointless and annoying lollygagging.
Might I suggest that you examine that suggestion on its own merits?
