Thumbs down If Helen & co were serious

About roading issues, reducing carbon emmissions, reducing fuel demands etc. etc. they would put measures in place to encourage two wheel transport - specially scooters. But that of course won't buy votes.

Travelling in Europe, not just the big cities like Rome and Paris but French villages, the big ones and the small ones, it is obvious that there is BIG place for that mode of transport. But not here? I dunno??

That is because Helen and Co are Communists, and as Communists they will only push forward communal solutions such as public transport.

The scooter is an individual solution and implies freedom. It is less controllable by the politbureau

Not sure about your logic here. If I were to guess I'd say it's because two-wheeled vehicles are dangerous, and NZ is so bloody risk averse it's not funny...

You're both wrong. It's because two-wheeled vehicles are fun, and if there's one thing that lot can't abide it's people doing fun stuff that they can't tax.

Yes, the increasing cost of gas is increasing the reasons to buy a Scoot.

The last time I was in Britain (1999), the price of fuel was ALREADY about NZ$3 per litre!
    Must be over that now.

There's a link somewhere on the tax take as a comparison between nations (i posted it on a political forum some time ago). NZ was only a middling taxer compared to the rest.

Yeah but thats converted to NZD.....if you live there its more like a pound = a dollar as you're earning the currency concerned.
Petrol's not too bad I spose, I'd prefer if it was less as I commute a good 70-80kms a day!
A tax break or registration reduction or some other benefit should be given to bikes in place of cars! Just like in the UK where bikes/scooters are exempt from the inner city london tax.

I think you are confusing propaganda and farce.

If it was propoganda I would have attempted to convince you of my farcical assertion.

Everyone knows that Labour are not Communists - they are not organised enough to acheive that lofty prize

You are quite correct. Those who live within the "urban sprawl" would be wise to adopt a cheaper alternative such as a scooter.

The green morons however, would have you walking - whilst eating a carrot to aid your walk home at night...

An even better alternative would be to improve the pathetic "public transport" that D'Auckland has.
Supporting 2-wheeled transportation methods whilst improving the "mass-transit" systems of busses/ferries and trains.. Convincing retards to abandon their cars is a rather big ask...
