    I shouldve been more specific...

I usually just shove a K&N filter in a bike and be done with it. Much easier

There was an oil crc'ish type residue in the airbox.

Its paper. It will be sweet. Ill give it a very light oil and shove it back in.
    You check with EconoHonda?

Don't put any oil on the paper element.

Buy a foam one like Unifilter - usually about the same price as paper OEM but last for years.
    Cheers

That's come from the crankcase breather. It's from the engine. A little is normal.

Read my lips....DO NOT OIL A PAPER FILTER ELEMENT!!!!
Now, can you be a clever boy and repeat that back to us??
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

*MUST NOT OIL A PAPER FILTER*

Yeah I think I got it

Took the stuntbike down to my old mans workshop and just blew the buggar out and shoved it back it.

    All good.

    Cheers guys

I bought a new OEM Honda filter for my bike. Funnily enough once I got it out of the (ancient) air-tight packet (I think it was new-old-stock from 1980 heheh), it was already slightly oiled. Thought about oiling it again but the correct amount of oil for those filters is really small (squeeze out the excess!) and seemed perfect already.

Are all Honda OEM foam filters like that? Pre-oiled?
