    Removing a swingarm

whats the best way to raise a bike to remove the swingarm. Got a VFR that im trying to put a new swingarm onto put not sure the best way to raise it. used to just rope it up to the roof but new garage doesn't have any exposed trusses. are motorcycle lifts suitable for this. A huge change in weight when the swingarm and wheel comes off and it dont want it trying to kiss the floor.

Depends what kind of motorcycle lift you're talking about, and how your swingarm attaches. Some lifts have supports that go under the footpeg brackets, which is fine unless like my RC46 the swingarm bolt is what holds the footpeg brackets on.

Anything you can support the bike with that is stable is fine - even a big concrete block, beer crate or whatever. I've used a couple of car axle stands - one under each side - or you could use something like a big block, axle stand, car jack or whatever (as long as it won't tip) on each side of the bike, with a piece of timber resting on them.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
