Wait, a min, people wave to bikes? Where?
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Is there also some form of hierachy that i'm oblivious to? when i'm on my CBR cruisers won't say hi and when i'm on mum's shadow the reverse is true??!! what's going on?
i think its just you nobody waves to

Only if you are actually using the horn at the time and A.M. exhausts are pretty much silenced when coming toward a target vehicle with windows up and stereo on.

    Cool Bike etiquette on waving

whats the deal on waving to passing bikers... at first i didn't wave back just cause i was too nervous to take hand of the handlebars.... now i'm waving at everyone just to be freindly & hardly gettin waves back... is there a rule? i noticed the sportsbikes snobbed me today? maybe cause i don't have a sportsbike & have a little GN125... maybe i'll just wait to people wave to me... i cant handle the rejection

Hehe oh dear - you may have opened a can of worms on this one - always a great debate comes out of a thread like this.

But bugga that.. as for me, I'm a friendly girl who smiles the whole time I'm on my bike, and I wave to everyone. Most don't wave back, but I don't care. It makes me feel good. I have just been in Auckland for the week on my bike (I'm from Wellington). Found that I didn't get a wave back until a few hours south. Same on the way up...

And the worms begin to crawl out of the can.... here we go

    Waving thread? Yay!

I wave at people who wave at me or a more staunch kind of nod thing to others!

Yep, there are def. certain "rules" to the system. I ride an old scooter and a big bike, and waves usually come from like-riding others, i.e, big bike to big bike. Also, makes of bike can affect the system too.
For example, riding a VFR, and waving to a Harley owner (probably) won't work.
It's funny waving on my big bike to a familiar biker, then going out on my scooter and getting snubbed by the same former biker a few days later! Ahh...if only we didn't have helmets on...
Sometimes tho, I will get waves from a lot of bikers, and some car people too, as my scooter is a little bit rediculous looking, lol. Sometimes laughing from school girls as well...
