Has anyone got the hang of the upwards nod yet? I've been watching the training video (Once Were Warriors), but I still can't do it.

Yeah, but I used to play soccer so it was just a matter of reversing the header and voila ... the upwards nod.

I don't actually do it while riding though as if the visor is up you tend to get your head ripped backwards if done at over 70kph. See. Speed does kill!

Is that the one where I lift my head as I start to wheelie, like at Paeroa races years ago....then remember I was on the cop bike, and wait for the complaints to come in?

The white bit is easy cured by five mins in the microwave or a can of Kiwi polish!

The trick is to lead with the eyebrows....... they go up 1st, the rest of the head has to catch up giving the initial "flick" , then as the head does actually catch up the movement becomes more fluid.

kind of like towing a car with a bit of slack in the rope

After some time you can do it without the eyebrows, but it doesn't feel right

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

I waved to a traffic cop once, back in the black and white car days. The bastard turned around and followed me for about 5 minutes, put his red light on, pulled me up and wanted to know if I was being a smart arse. Got really chastised.

When riding my friends Honda scooter I used to wave to lots of bike riders, Geez those Harley riders aren't very friendly

But I AM waving! And as I want the world to see how caring I am I also ride with an open face helmet so my wide smile can be seen by all. But the ones who does not wave back can fuck off!

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Ahh, <3 the wave thread... I'm more of a nodder, but I had a really enthusiastic wave day recently. This one Harley rider, I think, waved back out of sheer amusement at me.
