How did this 'leg wave' business start? I have a theory that taking a hand off the bars of a supersport could potentially result in trouble, so perhaps the right leg is the safe bet?
When (and if) you become part of the in-crowd, you'll learn about the secret KB wave.

Same here. Waves from most HD riders...

Some sportsbikers wave but those that were busy hanging on for dear life...

Leg wave usually means "I need to piss" or "Och! My pants snake cramped!" but may also mean "Piss off or I'll kick ye off yer bike!"

Sometimes I don't wave because I'm too focused on the heavy traffic around me or going fast that I don't notice the other biker coming the other way. Otherwise I'll always nod or wave, esp. if I'm having a nice relaxed pootle.

The leg wave is a common European practice and may be symptomatic of an economy where proper, waving Kiwi Bikers can't afford to buy nice sports bikes, or somehow, all Kiwi sport bike riders are suddenly sans license at the same time, leaving those pommy bastards with their Power Rangers leathers and GSXRs covered in anodised bolts and tacky stickers the only sports bike riders on the roads. Either way it's a legitimate greeting.

If I took my foot off the peg to "wave" I'd crash.

I have a brilliant new Reevu helmet and nodding makes me want to throw up, so I don't nod.

I don't wave either because if I take my hands off the bar it's a sign to sheep everywhere to launch a kamikaze attack on motorcyclists everywhere.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Thanks for clearing that one up, it sure seems to unsettle the bike mind you, not recommended whilst in traffic

It would fall off. It's barely attached. I'm so un-hip it's already off to one side.

If I drive a convertible, does that mean I wave to Honda riders only?

Last week, I'm almost ashamed to admit...I waved to a few riders on bikes. Then I waved at what looked like a big touring bike, only to find it was only one of them super sized scooters, complete with confused rider...all I got in return was a blank stare...and it wasn't a Honda!

Nah, I just put it down to more of them super sized scooters being around...I can live with not getting a wave back, it's like waving at a Harley or BMW rider most of the time when I'm on my rice rocket...

I'd be concerned if the gay ones were waving. How do you tell a gay one from a straight one? Excluding the obvious Honda jokes.
