I don't think it was a wave, it was after the explosion and the arm wasn't attached

Don't bikers in NZ wave to each other?

I"ve been riding for 4 days now in North Island (Auckland - Cape Reinga - Coromandel) and have waved to all bikers I've seen on the road and probably less than 5 percent have reciprocated with a wave back. Are NZ bikers taught not to take their hands off the handlebars for safety or other reasons??

    What are you waving with?

You probably just need someone to teach you the KiwiBiker wave and then you'll get more hand action.

It'll be your accent, they probably think you are raising your hand to shoot them.

    Bikers are wankers, why wave.
