Mmm, they may not be happy, but I find it not good to ride a bike in anger...

It means WARNING AHEAD . I use it all the time. Unfortunately it's use is declining in NZ. Didn't get flashed once travelling auck to invercargill, but saw ~8-10 cops pretty shocking. Of course I flashed everyone coming the other way. (I do a flash-flash)

Even waved at a hanging by the side of the road waiting for his quota... he then decided to follow me hanging about 1k back hahaha I'm not stupid.

In the North Island I didn't see any bikers until I got to levin or so. Most waved back. Saw a fellow CBR rider on the welly motorway near tawa but he was going slow so I didn't hang around.

While going on the coast road after paekakariki there was a train on the hill, did the old pull the fist down a couple of times while alongside the cab and got a 'PAARP PARP' back.

Stick to the wave or nod dude, flash means something different.

    I wave to everyone except:
    HD and Scooters.

Riding round on my CBR250RR for about a year I soon found out who waves / nods back and who doesn't. I waved like the virgin newbie I was to all HD but I prob only got one or two waves back so I thought stuff em!!! But pretty much everyone else from Leather Clad racers to weekend tourers / dirt bikes waved back......

I tend to nod if I am in mid corner or something like that.....but if am going full tit in the twisties.... stuff the wave....or nod.....keep my damn eyes on the road!!

So why not scooters? Ok this is only my opinion (prob get some flak for it) but I don't consider them fellow bikers. They are the little annoying buzzards at traffic lights that think they can hang with the big boys. Then they think they can take those things on the motorway....oh yes a whooping 70ks....and then they even have the audacity to take them over the Nui hill......arrrrhhhhh!

Around town don't tend to wave. Tend to scan for cars / ppl pulling out in front of me.....but then I only take my bike out in the weekends for a blast so don't take bike into town much.

But for all the newbs out there don't worry. Don't get the guilts if u forget to wave. Its not the end of world.

Got to say, I am well impressed with the comeradery (sp?) of bikers here!

I had a bike/bikes for years in OZ, and apart from my trip across the country, noone waves, or nods, unless they are your mate. Yet here, it is more common to get one than not, and if you don't, it's usually cause they are patched, ducati riding, or just didn't see you. It is wicked!

Went for a ride around the water front from Kawakawa to Thames on Sunday, passed heaps of bikes, some while we were riding, some while we were having a nana break, but ALL waved (or noded).

How cool is that? I mean really, this is not the norm for everywhere.

I think wave, nod, salute, light flash...whatever! Acknowledge your fellow biker anyway you can. We are a small group (relatively) and have heaps in common (like having people try and kill us daily) and its great when you get acknowledged, by a complete stranger, cause you are one of "The Fold"!

Rock on, live long and Ride baby Ride!
Life is a like a box of chocolates; People are like Onions; The key to success is.......

    Fuck it, let's ride!

    Harleys?

Maybe it's the area I live in but I reckon I get a ratio of 1:90 from Harleys. Too many gang bikes that are souless. Their problem, not mine.

i dont wave to scooters [ie, nifty fifty and similar] simply cos judging by what comes into my work they are all idiots and dont deserve my time. i had one chick come in last night in fluffy bright red elmo slippers! damn i wanted to slap her! LOL. and another got shirty when i refused to put lawn mower 2 stroke oil in her scoot.
