I usally nod or wave at all bikes, its risky waving a cruiser, many wont wave back to a beat up old cbr600, but thats ok i dont mind, lets have a drag race. and i find alot of scooter riders either dont see me or are to surprised to nod back, or maybe they think "oh my lord, that bikey just noded at me, pretend i didnt see." But either way i reackon scooters deserve it, ever since i seen that fella pop a wheelie on a scooter and stayed on one wheel while he rode down the rode, turned around still on one wheel, and wheelie back to us, then he stoped on the spot, still on the back wheel. i was blown away at the time, i had no idea a scooter could do that. then i witnessed some more scooters being used as motocross bikes in a 50 fenzy, ok so they are real bikes i admit it. Those mini choppers however, they sure look dangerous, very low profile, i wouldnt want to ride one in traffic, though id problery still give them the thumbs up for being different, its their arse to risk riding the thing.

Saw a guy riding a mini bike down a busy two laned Dunedin street yesterday, at about 50km/h. was too far off to see if it was road legal but if I'd have been closer I'd have waved my arse off at him.

He was fully leathered up with a tinted lid - funny sight indeed.

Well personally the only time i wave at scooters is either when i mistake them for a bigger bike because of the bike like fairings and bike like exhaust covers that they all seem to sport these days... and when i do i feel like a knob cos really who wants to be seen waving at a scooter?

Oh and the other time i wave at them is to try and make them realize that they have left all thier protective riding gear at home...

Tried a little experiment today, I went for a ride around Hamilton streets first on my bike and later on my scooter.
I waved to all I met on two wheels and not one waved back to me on either the bike or the scooter. What lousy people we have here.

    Snobs that don't wave...........

Don't take it personally bro, I ride big cruisers, and even on my M109R I still get few waves. I think its a Jaffa thing, back home on the mainland where real people are everyone waves, and cars pull over to let bikes through rather than try to block them or be a hinderance. As for scooters, all on 2 wheels get a wave from me, even if they don't wave back, just shows there insecurity. I might add I always wave and thumb up cars that are courteous and kids in the back.

Ride with passion and thought always, loud bikes save lives.

yeh...there is one guy that rides a scoot, but also a bigger bike. no idea who he is, but he goes past my work couple of times a day...he always waves, but i havent been able to return the favour yet *sorry mate!* lol.
unless i know they ride a full sized bike as well, scooters get ignored by me in the wave area. my work is very close to a high school, and the number of niftys with irresponsible brainless young owners we get, it has put me off. have seen a few nearly arse off on the diesel.

Waving - the saga (multiple threads merged into this one)

We need some sort of Kiwi biker Salute..
Something distinctive and official that we will all recognise
You all know the feeling when your on foot or in a car and a bike is coming at you/ next to you and you just wanna say "Im a biker too"!!!!
I guess this probably relates to me a bit more because I tend to be on foot a bit more...
    Any suggestions ?
Cant be a thumbs up or a finger
So someone suggest a kiwibiker salute.
Confident the aprilia rsv4, IS the one

Topic has been done mate. Get yourself one of the patches and put it somewhere where passing bikers can see it and you're set.

    Ace Rimmer!

    What we need is the Ace Rimmer long salute, the salute least suited to motorcyclists in the whole universe. See it here;

    Mahaha!
