Since this is a waving thread, can I ask a few questions?

    1. How are you this morning Jim2?

    2. A few weekends ago I was heading North out of Waikane and waved at three bikes on the straight coming in. One flashed his lights at me, and another waved; but kind of low down to the left like he was sweeping the gravel.

Never seen that before and I was wondering if it was just a wave-style due to sprots bike riding position; or something.

I got the cop-wave on the same trip so didn't think it was that.

I almost wondered if they'd seen something fall off my bike!

    Cheers,

(P.S. I wave at most, even mid corner if I can. Often scooters too.)

I always wave to policemen - they always seem to give me a weird wave though, their finger pointing down like they are pointing to their nuts? And it always seems to be when im late to work and going a bit quick.

I'm from the UK and everyone nods. Forwards or sidewards are both OK.

I would assume I was getting the finger if someone waved at me.

Nodding seems to work in Auckland!

I'm not looking at the other side of the road when I'm commuting. I've enough going on on my side.

I've taken to nodding or the diagonal head shake like I'm winking to the other rider around town. A wave is always on the cards on the open road -'cept mid bend.

Having ridden so much "sur le continent" I've taken to sticking my (left) leg out when passing in the same direction, or my right leg when passing in the opposite direction!

Trouble is, hardly anyone here in NZ recognises it as a greeting!

I doubt it will catch on. The ABs defeat by France is still too raw!

Since I have changed from an SV1000S to a Speed Triple I have noticed that fewer bikers wave. Most waves when I rode the SV have been from riders of sports bikes and tourers. Is it possible that the non faired profile of the S3 confuses the sports bike rider thinking this is a HD, BMW or a chook chaser?

When I finally got a decent sized bike (GSX750) and started going to rallies and so on about 8 years ago, I noticed that the Harley riders more often than not didn't wave back, but the sport/tourer bikes more often than not did. I also noticed that my mates, who had been riding to rallies for some time, also on Jap sport/tourers, weren't waving at Harleys. So I figured that as Harley riders generally rubished Jap bikes, and Jap riders generally rubished Harleys, they didn't acknowledge each other on the road. Which I thought was a bit silly, and just kept waving. Now (for the last 3 years) I ride a big dirt bike to the rallies and still generally don't get waved to by the Harley riders and often not by the sport bike riders either now. Get over yourselves people, we're all bike riders, enjoying the same thrills, hardships and so on no matter what brand or size of bike we ride. So feel free to wave, nod, or whatever to all the other bikes out there.:spudwave:
    Here for the ride.

Took my Speed triple on a ride to Palmy mid week, and encountered quite a few bikes.
I'm pretty sure all waved, including HDs!

So all was well with the world........

Think you may have stuck your right leg out while splitting past me a day or 2 on may home. I was outside lane before ferry terminal on a wee GN125, red jacket and I think I pulled back in the queue to let you through. I don't cut through as fast as you guys do - had a nasty fright just b4 Xmas that has slowed me down. If it was you then thanks for the acknowledgement

Mordeth13's got heaps of pretty cool videos lying around on youTube. Like eating a full meal from McDonalds with a helmet on.. gets a bit messy.

I only really wave to people I actually know, other than that a head nod is all you get!
