Could have been me, I always give the devils horns instead of waving to people, just, amazing how many riders don't respond, not that I give a fuck, it just means they didn't see me at all or didn't see me in time to wave back, or they were holding on to the handlebars with both hands, a common practise amongst bikers I'm told.......

I've more or less given up waving/nodding now. I started to feel guilty about all the poor bastids that crashed after I waved at them, they ignored me, and I said, "Well fuckya then!"
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Just to prove how ridiculous this all is, I met a Harley bloke a few weeks ago and ever since then in person or on bike we acknowledge each other.

I passed him on the road today and waved as normal and he completely blanked me. Why? cause I've bought a jappa since we last spoke and I was ridding that. wtf, next week I'll pass him on a hog and be worthy of a wave no doubt. Bloody silly.

    Why don't Harley riders wave?

It's something that has been perplexing me (and fellow riders) for a while. Why don't Harley riders wave to non-Harley riders? One of the things I really like about riding is the friendliness of the the other riders. No matter where you go, the rider coming the other way always gives a nod or a wave - except Harley riders. I have even tried to get the ball rolling and waved to Harley riders in the hope they wave back, but they never do!
I have asked many riders this question but no one has had an answer.
I am sure Harley riders are just like the rest of us - out there enjoying the road and the ride.
    Has anyone got any ideas?

Yeah it's not like they need both hands on the bars at all times on those things.

Here we go again. You know, Ive never had a problem with Harley riders waving - in fact more often than not, they wave / nod first. In fact most cruiser riders seem quite friendly in that respect - but inversely, very rarely doeas a sportsbike rider wave. Then again, I ride a Cruiser... so what does this tell me?

It tells me that the majority of Cruiser riders wil wave at other Cruiser riders but not to Sportsbike riders.

And it tells me that a small few will wave at anyone - and then come on KB and complain that one style of rider or the other doesnt return their waves...

Funnily enough - I don't ever have anyone not waving back when I'm waving at someone on the open road. It happens in the cities for sure - but then again I too happen to miss bikers when I'm focusing on keeping track of traffic.

I bet it's all in your mind.

No reason to take offense at a biker not waving back - unless you're riding in the rain. If you're riding in the rain anyone on 2-wheels have got to be true bikers and as such it would be a fatal breach of ettiquette not to wave back. (yes, I am kinda kidding).
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

I would say about a third of sports bike riders dont wave back to me and a bit less say a fifth from other Harley riders. There will be a few who dont wave back to Harleys or Sports Bikes or whatever and there will be a few who won't wave to anybody ever.
