I have to concur - as a GN rider I usually nod and/or wave at any bike, but I have never ever had a GN rider respond, even when stopped at lights, they will totally ignore me. I put it down to the fact that they are either

    a) a learner too scared to take a hand off like you say
    b) a guy who is too ashamed to be seen on a GN
    c) a guy who doesn't want to acknowledge a fat chick in a high vis vest

all valid reasons I might add, so I carry on regardless happily riding and waving and nodding like an idiot.

I usually wave to all but if I'm mid corner or at night I let my indicator blink once.

I've seen some people do it to me and I reckon its a great idea when waving isn't going to work.
I only posted this because of the global economic crisis

I wave to most if able too,on toy run had to nod a couple of times.

Indicating at night is same as truckies, good idea.

We are all out there to enjoy the freedom,if they didn't wave I don't take it too heart. Will acknowledge cops in cars with a wave. Some cruisers seem to wave, some not, harley riders don't if they have them macho black leathers and open lids, too scared to let the bars go.Harley riders with proper gear do wave, most are the so called born again riders the cops hate, but they ride to survive, and just enjoy it.

I like both hands on the bar. Sometimes raise all fingers while keeping palm on the throttle. 'Bout the only time I take it off is to warn bikers of a cop ahead.
