just so nobody feels left out i wave at everybody, cages included.
Yep, everyone gets a nod or wave whether I'm on the sportsbike or scooter. Hardly ever get acknowledgment from the cruiser types or scoots. Even give theif a bike pulls alongside while I'm in the cage. Bikey
get a nod as well.
Best response was from a bus load of ladies, looked like they were on a hens nite out. They waved, I waved, a few hiked up their skirts as I passed. Smiles all round for that one.![]()

Way I figure it, if I keep on giving acknowledgment - it might just break down some of the barriers and stereotypes.![]()
A few people are flashing their lights these days but I recon that should only be used if theres a cop or incident up ahead.
I ride a GN and try to give a nod or wave to all other riders. Seems like a lot of sprotsbike riders won't wave back to a GN though. Sports tourers seem the friendliestOriginally Posted by Beemer

I was walking to the shops last week, a police car came around the corner, the cop smiled and waved. I dont know why but it made me feel real good. Perhaps it reminded me of my early days in Dorkland where helmeted officers patroled the city streets. These real policemen could be relied on to help in any situation. My Dads instructions when I left my country home in 1950 to take an apprentiship in Dorkland were - if you get lost or in any trouble find a police man, today I doubt if I could.
That's my favourite. For some reason it seems friendlier than a nod! If you do it with the eyebrow lift it's even better... nobody can see your eyebrows but I can't do the 'reverse nod' without the eyebrows getting involved kinda automatically...Originally Posted by Big McJim

When I grow up and get a GN250 I'm gonna wave and nod at everybody. Who cares if they don't wave back? I'm having fun.![]()
There is no such thing as bad weather; only inappropriate clothing!
I have learned that if I am going to nod or wave at another biker, not to EXPECT them to nod or wave back, even a screwed up face, frown, or a poked out tongue can happen and don't at all surprise me, if your expectations aren't high then you won't be offended as much.
Remember, out on the road not every biker is in a friendly happy-go-lucky mood like you may be, and they aren't obligated to be.
my wife waved to a bunch of hd riders in uk and got a two fingered salute which she responded to with the bird, all this went on without me knowing until i had wall to wall hd,s in my mirrors, turned to wife with a wtf look she showed me the finger, and then it was oh shit have i got enough petrol and next clank it down a few notches and lets get the hell out of here, lost them quite quickly ,wife has been a bit more restrained sinceOriginally Posted by Pathos

Yeah, quite cool how kids look at bikers with awe on their faces. Was riding 2 up with the Mrs and stopped by a park, when a kid whose dad was playing with a dirt bike came over and practically drooled all over us.Originally Posted by far queue
Then was riding behind a car and a kid stuck his nose to the back windscreen and waved... We waved back, thumbs ups, winks etc as we were behind them for awhile... Looked like we made his day...
Gotta make you feel good!![]()

you have to get the nod right, nodding down is acceptable, nodding up makes you take your eyes off the road and can look gay.
Please NOTE: If I offend you with any of my posts or comments, please remember that.
1. I do it on purpose
2. I dont give a shit
3. Tell some one who cares.
nod is fine..
