good for you .......... but for every one strong-minded fella like you there'll be another dozen that struggle with it and their efforts shouldn't be knocked?
there's a body of qualified opinion
of which this is one minor part which says it's addictive and should be approached as such .........
like any addiction [or any HABIT for that matter] it's a praiseworthy thing to fight against and win

Its been just over two months of being smokefree (Well sort of) I have had some set backs, especially at Christmas time and New Years, but I feel so much better for it. I'm more alert, I'm not so tired all the time and my stomach isn't giving me as much hassle as it used to. Last night would have been the only time in the last month and 1/2 that I have had to take my medication so that just goes to prove what smoking was doing to me. I struggle when I'm drinking but have learned to ignore thoses feelings. Recently at a friends place for dinner etc, I was drinking and I wanted to have a smoke but just focused on something else until the urge went away and I'm happy with it.
Even though I have had some set backs I'm rather proud of myself for how far I have come with my choice to give up. Not bad for the first time and also trying to stick with it. Dan, thank you for the pep talks and putting up with the bad moods when I really wanted to have a smoke, it is really appreciated.
So how are you going 007XX and Boomer? Better than me I hope
You go you good thing...
I haven't touched a cigarette since the beginning of November. Have been around people who were smoking, and it hasn't bothered me at all. Have even been drinking, and didn't feel like a smoke.
The funniest thing happened though: I really went off coffee and alcohol. I don't know if it's because subconsciously, I know they were triggering my desire for a cigarette, or whether my tastebuds were not into the taste of it after being cleansed from no more nicotine. But heck, it feels great!
I have now started a 3 months exercise plan and am finally able to run for about 15 minutes at a well paced jog without looking like a beetroot or collapsing like an asphyxiated goldfish out of water...
I saw Boomer on a track day before Christmas, and I never saw him with a smoke, so me thinks he is doing rather well![]()
I have noticed that if I limit my alcohol intake I don't have to fight the urge that hard. I could never give up coffee......Christ Dan would hate me in the mornings thats for sure
My tastebuds are very active, I'm finding that the food I thought was bland and dull actually has some taste to it. Its completely awesome![]()
The funniest thing I have found is when I'm on the back of Jrandoms bike and we are filtering through traffic, I can smell when someone is having a smoke in their car.
Nice one ladies. Much respect to both of you for breaking the habit
I was in a taxi the other day and a car in the next lane had windows down, occupants smoking, and all the smoke was coming into the taxi. Gross.
