I had a couple of puffs and got a major head rush and felt really really ill. I suppose I have learnt that I really don't need it and also that it has a bad effect on me now. Don't panic, it's just a hiccough. Keep at it and you'll be fine.

Wasn't it great that you felt really crap! It would have been miserable if you had LUUURRRVED every illicit drag - but no, your body told you where to stick it.

    Just keep plugging away . . .

You are at the most difficult stage. Nothing wrong with a little failure. I doubt if there are many who did not have a puff at about where you are now. The mindset is still there and that's the most important attitude to have.

Well Boomer this is probably the only time that I may agree with you but reading that Book has made this quite a pleasant experience. Day 6 is halfway through and I'm actually enjoying myself.

Have you guys considered something as extreme as physical exercise to celebrate your clean lungs (or to speed up the cleaning process depending on how you look at it)?
I think you might be able to channalise the restless energy you have into something really good. Just a short run or jog - even a brisk walk or some such.

Allow me to add some motivational fodder - a cautionary tale.
One of my girlfriend's best friends back home called the other day. Her mother who's been a heavy smoker her entire life and got diagnosed with lung cancer not that long ago just got the "death sentence". Her primary tumor in her lungs has spawned secondary tumors in her lymph nodes. She won't have much time left...
Furthermore, her father - who's not a smoker by the way - went to the doctor with back aches. Turns out he has a tumor in his spine - a secondary tumor... the primary tumor is in his lungs. So his days are numbered as well...
So my girlfriend's friend is obviously shattered that she'll almost certainly have no parents left next year. And her young children will be two grandparents short as well. Its fucking hard, but what can you do, what can you say?
The choice you make today is important, not just for you - but for everyone who relies on and cares about you. Still, its your choice, make the one that is right for you.
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Remember your humanity, and forget the rest. - Joseph Rotblat

So how ya going boomer? Still enjoying being a happy non smoker? Day 6 for me and Day 5 for you and apart from my little mishap, I actually feel great. I have heaps of new found energy and my cold is finally starting to go. I haven't had any mood swings since reading that book and I'm enjoying the experience a lot more than I was before.
