Anyone know that do I have to pay for the entry fee for the whole day if I just want to ride like one hour only?

Yep, gotta pay for the whole day. Haven't heard of anyone getting a one hour pass or something like that. Maybe if you're mates with the track manager you could get away with it.

Bummer about your cable breaking, happens...least you had one session out there, your bike's still in one piece and it's only a small fix!

$90 for a day? Hell, that's much better value for money than the last time I took my GSXR600 out on the road (just prior to selling it, funnily enough).

So - never having attended an open day / track day before, does anyone have any hints or tips? I've read & noted the point about no bales infront of the armco - hey, that's still better than cheesecutter-cable lane separators and / or oncoming Mack trucks :-)

just go out and do it. If you start to worry about people catching you up etc your likely to cause an accident. If you just ride and hold your line then people will pick and appropriate and safe time to pass you.

Other than that, look through the corner, not at your speedo!

where opinion holds more weight than fact.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Some random thoughts, in no particular order:

Get a good sleep the night before.

Ensure your bike is "up to standards".

Ensure your protective wear is "up to standards".

    Remove your mirrors.

Adjust your suspension accordingly, take necessary tools, manuals.

Adjust your tyre pressures accordingly, take a gauge and pump.

Hold your line on the track.

Don't get frustrated by other riders passing you quickly.

    Warm up your tyres.

Keep an eye on your fuel consumption.

Enjoy getting familiar with the track and gradually improving and increasing your speeds, if that is your desire.

Get to know the capabilities of your bike, ie. brakes, suspension, gearing, engine power, torque, etc.

Practise respect & courtesy for all others who are on the track with you.

That's enough to keep you occupied first time out, have fun!

I'm presuming that this Open Day will be like the others, in that there will be cars there too? I know a couple of people who are car nuts & would probably love to attend as well.

Yep, if it's an open day organised by the Puke management, then it will have cars too.

Ahh, you should have said hi! We don't bite (normally). There were quite a few of us there. Next time you'll have to come out on the track!

I was on the Thursday night ride you came on as well. We'll have to catch up again another time.
    Exploring pastures anew...
