I was there and have won national races as you call them. So what, that doesn't make you special.
What we're talking about here is would we come to a meeting and I've said motorcycle racing is fading and wouldn't bother.
I'd rather get out there myself, there are what 9 or 10 pro twins you told me ? So I would be top ten as a 64 yr old grandad !!! I'd have a pretty good shot at top 5 by the look it and that's just bloody ridiculous.
Good luck to you if that's want, each to their own I guess.
Who said it makes you special ? Your words not mine. I for one am just out there doing my best and having a shit load of fun (with my family) at the same time. Yes, I will be very happy and proud of my achievement if I win but all you can do is whine and be negative about the whole NZ racing scene. Get over it.

Top 5 ? Get a bike and bring it on then grandad

Christ - for the life of me I can't figure out what the problem is with road racing here in NZ....

Hey - why not set up a fight cage and you lot can have at it. Run the racing as half time entertainment...

Happy people dont even consider behaving like that.
Id say life has got around to kicking someones arse & making them not very happy.
Taking it out on pleasant folk on the internets under cover is probably good therapy though.
I thought this thread was quite productive until this bum came along.
I think ignore list is best, cherrio tugger. . . sorry, gripper.

Thing is, bobby boy, that I expressed my opinion and you got your panties in a twist.
I may not Mr popular round this neck of the interweb, but there are a lot of riders (and racerss) that feel the same way, but they just keep it quiet, probably partly because of you highly strung grumpy old twats that go off the deep end when you hear the truth.truth that you obviously can't take.
Go on, put me on your ignore list .dare ya !

We put flyers on just about every bike parked in Wellington - Had it announced at Pearoa BOTS - (there were going to be flyers put on all the spectator bikes there as well but the plonker who was supposed to do that crashed in practice) Loads of people thought it was a good idea (including me) But as I said it didn't make much difference (I actually counted the cars in the carpark for that meeting and the previous one ) and there was nothing much in it - we are talking hundreds - not thousands of cars
We had a shit load of programs left over as well

    I dunno ??

Should've put flyers on all the cars too.................thats the audience that needs to know when meetings are on.

I said I'd help a mate at the Taupo rnd and had to go to the MNZ site just to see what the dates were....................and I'm into bikes, its been said many times, Joe Public just doesn't know racing exists. I watch waay too much TV and have yet to see any ad's for the Nats.

Last Nats I went to at Manfeild I took a mate and to be honest we got bored, ok we were really only interested in the top level races, but there was nothing to do when not watching racing. I couldn't be rude to my mate and go yacking to those racers I knew.
Sounds like this is being addressed though, trade stands etc are being asked for. So hopefully if I get to Taupo for the final round there will be more than just a glorified club meeting (sorry but thats what the ones I've been to look like).

Manfeild will always be a hard one to get people to, 2 hours drive is a bit far for most people. Everything is too hard. Hampton Downs would be a different story id say.

Having a stunt bike like they are having at HDs this year should be good for some entertainment, looking forward to that.

little things to keep the crowd involved, maybe a roaming commentator rocking up to spectators asking them what they ride and who their here to watch etc Maybe at lunch time they could have a guided 5 laps of the track for people to ride their road bikes around behind stroudy.

Maybe get can am to supply a spider and have slight, crosby or stroud take people around the track on it.

why didn't you take your mates along and let them get a look at the riders setups, girlfriends butt cracks etc???, Follow one person in one class through the day and get them to sign your girlfriends bra or something
    MIX WITH THE HUMANS
then at hampton downs why don't I try and sort something to do in the other races in the big top, some other bike shit on the big screen lay back and look at .
Be warned though, it'll be historic NZ shit if it's got anything to do with me
