Me and some mates (assorted low Hp bikes e.g. Gn250s etc) are looking for a go-kart track or something that we can go and have a burn on. No point going to a Pukekohe open day as bikes are too slow.
Any suggestions? Cheers.

I think there's a kart track that they race buckets on... would be good for a motard i think. Mt Wellington kart track, anyone confirm?
Dunno if mt welly would allow 250s on it -and to be honest thats probably the oposite extreme
Me I'd do a track day at Taupo short track--theres the memorialone soon or the moto TT one
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
250's too big? Piffle. I was down at the last bucket meeting at the Mt. Wellington track (Tainui Rd, Mt Wellington, entrance on right about 100m from the intersection) and there was one guy on a WR450F, and another on a KTM 400+ something riding in a motard race there. It was fantastic, darkies all over the place.
They've got their annual 2 hour endurance meeting on the 24th and 25th November, so that's probably not the ideal time to be goign out for the first time, but for regular meetings they'll practice on the Saturday before racing on Sunday. That could be a good opportunity to have a go?

I agree with Frosty.
We race buckets at Mt Wgtn.
We have seen a couple of guys down there trying out their 250's but they
are just too big. The corners are really tight and the road bikes don't corner so well.
I dont think they even got out of 2nd gear.
I've got a GPZ 250cc, which I'm taking to Taupo at Xmas. One ride on that track and your hooked. Well worth saving all year for.
Those guys on the motards at Mt Welly are very experienced riders. They have all the correct gear and very expensive slicks.
I watched stoud go round the mt welly kart track on a 1000 looked like fun and good practice to me...
Yep.
Macstar and mates:
1) get your holidays booked for January
2) all get RG 150's
3) ride down to the South Island and compete in the Nationals Support class (Streetstock)
4) Ride home with a big smile, knowing you've ridden 3 awesome tracks
Easy
cheers for the advice fellas, I'm hoping to go to the Mt Wellington track this weekend to watch the races and check the track out. My Ktm isn't keen on riding too far south (long distances). Maybe I can get a trailer for the Suzuki Rf to chuck the KTM on...?!
Yep i've tried out the Mt Welly track on my 250, was great fun but as Shelracing has stated, you can't really get going mainly because they're just so big.I think I got to 3rd a couple of times during the day and that was with the small counter shaft sproket on..But then again I ride like a nana..haha.
I must say the Bucket was a lot more fun racing around there![]()
Been, seen and going next year.
