    Transponder orders being taken

Well I received a call from the transponder guys about the TranX260 model. The more that can be ordered the bigger the discount. These will be done at cost price and arrive with a shiny GST receipt.

Please PM me to register your interest.

If there's enough interest to make the batch big enough then they should come in at a similar price to the Vic Club (about $505 for DC & $560 rechargable (includes GST).

With the US dollar being so weak I am making enquiries about parallel import ones which should work out even cheaper.

Can't do anything about the @#$ng GST element though.

Pardon my ignorance, but do you have to get your own personal transponder for lap timing at race events etc?
Or is this just for practice, track days etc?
    Keep it rubber-side down...

If you're racing you need a transponder. My understanding is that you can't race without one. The current choices are to buy one from AMD or hire one for $30 per day from Tim Gibbes.

Come on guys and girls. Everyone (including me) is bitching and whining about the transponder costs. I'm trying to do someting about this. Please show your interest & please tell your mates. As far as I'm aware the motorcycle clubs don't have the time/money/resources to organise another batch of transponders so as riders we've got to get our fingers out our ar$es.

As for "cheap as chips" in USA. They're not significantly cheaper when 12.5% GST & 2% currency spread is added to justify the possible warranty & return hassles. If anyone is willing to bring some in and not declare them then fine, but I'd can't see me sneaking a batch of 100 past customs.

Basically AMB will give us a discount of 20% for 100 units. It's not much I know, but it's better than a kick in the teeth.

If anyone has suggestions of how to do this cheaper then please let me know.

Well due to lack of interest I'm not importing the transponders. This slipped in to the motorcyclenz website.

Own your own before the Castrol Road Race Champs AND get a good price.

There have been a number of enquiries from riders regards the purchase of Transponders for the Road Race championships and beyond which is very pleasing and MNZ will be endeavouring to get a bulk buy price.

As time is marching on we will hold our action till the 16th of November if you wish to be involved please contact Vicky at the office.

    (07) 828 8752 ex 5. Remember your urgent attention is required or you will have to hire them. Regards.

Should probably be in rant and rave...but.
Sorry man, it's not like I'm even a Pomm. I'd just been off the phone with Telecon faults (for the dozenth time). Their official policy is that even though my phone line is a crackly piece of $hite (my neighbours' is crystal clear) and my ADSL speed is 96Kbps (neighbours is 2000Kbps), that so long as I can hold a conversation on the phone line it's basically working and they won't fix it. Asked about additional line. $500 + GST (not thrilled but I'd pay it) but they couldn't guarantee that a "new line" would be used. Back to square 1. Those bastard politicians holding Telecon shares are really milking us "kiwi's".
