the only modding I do is on the web, & yes some ppl delight in pretending to be something they generally are not in real life .. put it into perspective .. membership of approx 8-9000 ppl & yet its the same 1-2 dozen who feel like rules do not apply to them, Mods also have to abide by rules .. we are not god like just trying to do the job Spank has asked of us ..

I totally back sorting out the chaff so we can keep the wheat. Although I prefer non moderated forums (like usenet in the good old days) I understand that while SpankMe is legally responsible for the content on this site it's a necessary evil.

I don't envy anyone who has to censor (which is the main role of a mod) a site like this. It's a pain of a job. Look at poor old Alt TV as a classic example of what can happen. The person moderating the txt messages gets pissed and misses a few racist hate speeches and *boom* they're offline for a day with a massive fine. I'd hate to see KB go down that road.

It also means when you get it wrong or make a borderline call you cop a lot of flack. Against that you have to try to keep the site free and flowing. Much like an umpire.

It's a hard job and it makes you a target for troublemakers. So yeah I'm all for trashing the total wankers and removing racist posts and all that.

It's just that this isn't what we're talking about here right? Someone that a large number of KB'ers thinks makes for a great mod has been demoted against their will and it's not really a surprise to me that people want to know why.

Internet forums seem to generate their own kind of "road rage"... events that we would normally just shrug off seem to gain an importance possibly well above their real world tea-cup status. I have never met Frosty, but I have read many of his posts, and I am sure he is a good guy. I've met some of the mods, and watched others here, and I am sure they are pretty reasonable peole too.

Yet we we get on the innernet, problems we could deal with simply in real life just amplify themselves.

I always thought that there were 2 levels of Moderation on KB.

It has been an unending source of comfort, advice, shoulders to cry on, and people to listen.
It has been a place where people care about each other. It has been what communities around this country cry out for in its camaraderie.
How sad, then, that Frosty has been made to feel unwelcome because he wouldn't "toe the party line". The words do not need to be spoken/written to him to be true....it is a feeling deep in one's gut...it is most unpleasant.
This is not so much about Frosty being canned as a moderator...it is more about the loss of decent treatment for decent human beings.
I, for one, am seriously considering whether I want to be involved in this community anymore...I don't want to be a part of an entity that is unwilling to shed light on problems, to be open to criticism, to stand community scrutiny.
Brushing this all under the carpet will not make it go away!
It will do untold damage!
I beg the "mods" to reconsider their decision...throw this out to the masses, have some integrity, stand behind the decision you made, but make it public!
For evil to prevail, good men need do nothing!
I did nothing when Ixion thanked us for the fish...I can't let this one go as well!

One would have to agree with you totally here I am a six month virgin on this site recommended to me by a very good mate who has in that six months decided to limit his activity on this site due to the political bullshitt. I as yet have not had the privalige to meet Frosty but have read posts and advice from him and feel this site would not benefit in any way what so ever in banning or excluding him . I also believe that it should be made known to all the facts of this whole situation but in saying this I believe that this will never happen and low and behold that it does it will be a biased version of events . as I posted earlier in theis thread

Its a shame that this is happening, Frosty has my support, Its only fair that a guy who has done so much for so many of us that he should be treated right.
