Well things have certainly been busy here since Friday!

And there is a bunch of shit getting thrown around, in typical KB style, regarding the "sacking" of Frosty.

Once again much of the "discussion" relating to this matter has been one-sided -- in Frosty's favour. And there has also been a lot of crap thrown at Moderators -- Joni in particular.

Until a few months ago I had the privilege to be a Senior Moderator. As such I was privy to some discussions that other Moderators (like I am now) and Kiwi Biker members don't get to see. Trust me when I say it's pretty ugly at times in the back room.

One of the things that Senior Moderators get involved in is feedback about the performance of Moderators, and they also have a range of tools that allow what Mods do to be observed and quantified. There are some great Moderators on this site, some who are still learning the dark art of moderation, a very few whose performance has been sub-optimal and a couple who have caused no end of trouble.

Another point that needs to be kept in mind here is to disassociate what Frosty does outside KB, such as worthy work organising track days and the like, and what he does (or does not do) on KB as a Moderator.

Back in my Senior Moderator days, I think I was privy to more complaints about Frosty's "performance" than all of the other Moderators together. To piously claim that his demise was the result of how he handled just one post is a nonsense. It may have been the last straw, but in my opinion, the Senior Moderators have tolerated Frosty's peccadilloes for about a year longer than they should have, probably sensing that a backlash like this would be a result. While they were right in guessing how the site may react, they also did the right thing by removing an extremely troublesome Moderator.

And as for Mod-bashing, and singling out Joni for special attention, I think that that is just symptomatic of a huge degree of immaturity from some contributors. Joni deserves better.

It's really hard finding competent and dedicated people who are prepared to volunteer large parts of their lives to keep this site alive and ticking. The brutal and inane displays of petulance at times like this make it that much harder to retain the talent pool we currently enjoy. Those of you who have been engaging in mindless displays of Mod-slagging should be ashamed of yourselves.

I have never seen a poster questioning Frosty's integrity as a mod, I have however, seen legions questioning Joni's.
From my own point of view, and I consider that I am reasonably mature,(some may differ), the one and only timne I asked for help from a mod to deal with a personal vendetta, I asked Joni.
It was not dealt with satisfactorily by her, until I had publicly posted the pms and rep comments in the forum....by which time, I had earned her ire too, and recieved a slap over the wrist for my troubles.
I found her to be opiniated and extremely unhelpful....I didn't realise one could complain to a mod about another mods poor performance, or I would have done so long ago.

And what, exactly, is this "transparency" you're so keen on getting?

The decision to remove Frosty from the Moderating team was serious and would not have happened unless the Senior Moderators were united. Picking on Joni in relation to this is pitiful.

yungatart, I would have to strongly disagree.
I have dealt with Joni a few times and had the pleasure of meeting her and the crew up in chch for the KB Bday party. She is a very kind and caring person and definitly does not deserve the flack she seems to receive on these forums, for trying to do a long, frustrating, and thankless job that is moderating.

People need to remember that there are actually real live humans on the other end of these forums... Not just the machine you are looking at right now.

How true is that i believe joni and kickaha are united arn't they and we all know who wheres the pants as well.

Frosty's sacking has nothing to do with Joni -- other than the fact that she has been exposed to way too much abuse of a personal nature.

And like some others, she hasn't thrown all of her toys out of the cot, posted the contents of Personal Messages in a feeble effort to suit her own side of things and gone all pissy. How people respond to adversity can be particularly telling about their strength of or lack of character. This thread has been extremely educational on that score.

People who want to take liberties with the truth and try and rewrite history to make themselves look like saints should be warned that some of us have particularly long memories and will not resile from filling in the gaps, if that's what people think they want to hear...

And you can judge that much of a person on one meeting you must be very gifted. Joni also needs to stop and think about the things she dones and must also suffer the consquence of her and only her actions.
