    Recommended Painter In Christchurch

I'm looking to colour match my side covers on the Hornet 919 to the tank & tailpiece - anyone recommend a good painter in Christchurch?

I've used different shops through work getting reps cars repaired and I am always surprised how often I need to take the work back due to orange peel, sanding marks, poor matching etc. Thats insurance work I guess - always on a budget.

Preferably someone who appreciates the fact that I am trusting him/her with a set of side-covers off a new bike!

Sorry cannot help but the MV in Motomail has some nice white bits on the tail and fairing which if I had the money would be tempted to duplicate on my SV...

I could not find the image but if it is white stripes or triangle/v shapes on the bike u like you can go to a vehicle sign-write and for a reasonable price they can make up a set that stick on (same as reps vehicles etc). One advantage - price is good especially for a small amount like a bike and it can be removed with no damage to the stock paint.

Thanks for that, I know you can get SV laminates for fairing but I will look into that cause I can take a pic of the MV so they can replicate.....cool

You sound pretty fussy, not prepared to put my favourite painter through dramas over slight mismatches on colouring or whatever for what amounts to a few hundred bucks. Sorry.

I will however tell you that it would be worth your while checking out someone like Gary Smiths... they do a lot of Mercs etc, so can't be all bad.

Yep I am pretty fussy but I don't mind paying for a decent job, I do object to sanding marks and orange peel which is just poor prep. And you are right - not a lot of profit in a couple of side covers! One advantage with these colour wise is that the angles and location should divert any slight mismatch especially with a few layers of wax

I've seen your SV outside Sportzone - nice paint, cool high-mount muffler as well. I was keen to get my hands on a naked SV and mimic a 70/80's Ducati - round arse single seat, 750ss style fairing, long cone mufflers etc. The naked ones are rare (no longer available new) and priced high used.

Good call re the expensive car painters I'll start there.

Also many thanks for the Wellington offer I contact if I'm not convinced of a reasonable job in CHCH

The guy at "The Bumper Shop" paints bikes, I've seen some race bikes done by him that looked ok, (keep in mind I'm not to fussy)

I've had Atomic Panel and Paint on Gasson street recommended. They do cars and seem straight enough. I haven't yet had the time to get my car through there - so I can't give my personal recommendations.
