From what I had heard it was inferior to the good ol' AA...

My hat goes off to SpyHunter; absolutely nessecary part of a comptuer softaware bundle. Best bit of kit my computer has seen in a loooong time!

I've brung the damned thing home again for my resident boffin to check out again,he'll do it when he comes off shift tomorrow,I can struggle on with my 7 yr old IBM,but it's tough going.XP has been reinstalled twice, all the scans and obvious stuff done - something must be hiding in my files as they are transfered over.

I've been using Mozilla and Thunderbird, but for WoF work I have to use Explorer...it's a Telecom deal and they don't support other browsers, although I think you can use Navigator, which is almost Mozilla?

I've just been talking to Curious George (he knows squat about computers, but I humoured him anyway),so I think we will reformat it again, but leave it just basic with none of my other programs on at all, just like the old IBM I'm using now,bit of a waste of a computer...like comuting on an R1,I'll set it up just to do WoFs and nothing else and see what happens.

Thanks for the input everyone - now I know what it feels like when your bikes are giving problems and you don't know what to do...you ask your friends, and they give you a hand - ta muchly.

Put on SP2 & install AVG (or whatever you have for Antivirus) and keep it updated. You should be fine.

I'm sure the odd winamp + files will be ok

Do you have to use IE because their site requires ActiveX, or because MSN owns a chink of Xtra, they won't let non- IE browsers in? If the latter is the case, then you should be able to change the "referer ID" to spoof IE. Off the top of my head, i can't remember how to do it, but i am sure somwone here will know.

Hmmmmm from lack of posting, I guess Motu hasn't fixed the problem...

Nah,it's in the garge getting new plugs and leads, put on a new can an rejet it - if that doesn't fix it,I'll see how strong the case is against a 31x10.5 15in Federal 351.

I may get it back tonight and try it tomorrow - but I'm pushed for time, more likely monday...or sunday after my trial,I'll be too tired to retaliate.

Do you still need my help?
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

I installed it again yesterday, reloaded with XP again, and that's all - first thing I did was update Norton, and straight away it was being hit by trojans and viruses,so someone was sure onto me.Then I downloaded Adaware and Spybot again, and they have been finding stuff right off too.

I don't know what to do about the files I've got stored, some is stuff I need to work with, also all my photos, music, all sorts of documents I've built up mainly relavent to my work.Anyway, the computer works with no silly dramas, that's the main thing. Thanks to all those who offered help - I may need you again if I reload my files.

Sounds like you oughta just reload your files and then run adaware/spybot/Norton etc again. It sounds like someone is set up to hit your comp everytime its online, so adding those files shouldn't make too much difference if the problem is mainly external....

Oh,and I got a call this morning - ''this is **** calling from XTRA,I was talking to you yesterday on case number *******'' oops, what's up now.He wants to book his car in for some work! I must sound sexy on the phone eh? So looks like XTRA's help desk is really in NZ,even if it doesn't sound like it when you ring up.

What you might have is cool web search installed. It changes your home page, adds lots of porn links into the search bar and the virus checker can't get rid of it, and neither can ad-aware proggies. The only program that I know of that can get rid of it is CWS shredder.

Here is the website where you can download the fix: http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/cws/
